  • License Plate Decision

So it turns out i got some bad information on the plates. We are looking at $0.79 per plate with a minimum quantity of 150. With shipping and setup, we're probably looking at around $130, which comes out to about $0.87 per plate.

I had a conversation with Shadow today, and his cost on the plates are going to be in the area of $3 per plate, but he can make them on demand.

If we had 20 dues-paying members, and we each gave them 2 plates, that would only be 40 plates, and we would still have 110 left over that would sit for god knows how long.

So we were thinking it may make more sense to have him go ahead and do the plates. Since we are still a very small club, it seems more economical. Assuming 20 members at $3 per plate, that comes out to $60. In retrospect, it does not seem wise to tie up our money in $130 worth of merchandise that will end up sitting in someone's closet.

Please vote and make your opinion known.

I'm not in Dead Ends, so I just went with the LMS option.

But yeah, I'd go with on demand if I were. Otherwise you could sell them online to other clubs or fans in other states.

Wait, what? Do you people hate money?

The best part about selling your logo to other people is the recognition. Not only are you advertising the club but PEOPLE ARE PAYING YOU TO DO IT! Then you can throw that money into things like running the site, events, food for events, hookers and coke, paying off cops, etc...

I have little 1.5 inch buttons made (had 1 inch, might start that back up again too although it's harder to read) and I get about 100 for $20. I just give those fuckers away to anyone that wants them ESPECIALLY other hearse people.

I mean if you want to do members only shit I'd go with printed certificates that look all official and laminated ID cards.

I'm just saying there are people who don't own hearses that support what I do. I feel bad for my "you must own a hearse" rule sometimes because they're really into it and I love that about them which is why anyone is welcome at the events and they can support us however they want. The members get the privilege of being members however and having a vote on things. I suppose I could do special "members only" events as well, or have special jackets/patches made up though that only members get.

Sorry to write a novel I'm just saying it's good to advertise ESPECIALLY in highly visible areas such as license plates, bumper stickers, t-shirts, etc...

Either way I wish you guys luck.

I think I speak for the group when I say that for now we Don't want everyone to have our merch...we've had at least one FORMER member turn out to be a sex offender, and the last thing we need is him or someone else getting into trouble while wearing our gear...Tapout makes a lot of money...you can see their gear on every other COPS offender, and whan a police officer sees a guy wearing a tapout shirt he cases them. We already get enough crap to avoid that.

We WILL be making generic Hearse Merch to sell to the general public, but as far as club specific stuff those will ONLY be available to club members.

This follows the example of several national car clubs...general merch in the field, hot rods, lowriders, hearses, etc. but club specific ONLY to members.

There are several reasons for the payed members only deal.
For now it will be paying members only. It's not that our logo will always be for just members, but whats the point in paying dues if you can get the same goods without paying? That along with what Chace said.
Plus if we order in bulk we have to worry about selling the rest of the stuff after all local members get what they want. Most of it would just sit in someones garage and rot.

Not me. I think members should have special edition swag but to get our name out there and attach more potential members our logo should be seen. I have several friends who want stickers our shirts. The last run of shirts I bought 13 I think, as christmas presentsfor mt family and best friends. And to this day they still have purple ask them what is Dead Ends. Most orioles have no clue that there are hearse clubs out there.

I know some car club sale support shirts and stickers to non-members. They are a little different than member's shirts. Might want to think about this.

The clothes someone wears shouldn't make one a criminal. I remember my friend Bo telling me how his stupid ass wore an orange prisoner shirt (I believe it was a knockoff) with orange pants in Royal Oak. A cop full on tackled him for it (he said, probably just gave him some shit if anything at all) and he was just walking downtown. There wasn't a prison/county jail for MILES around.

Anyway, point is let the official members reflect the club, not the logo. This is why I have an official members roster on my site that I keep up to date.

i think we have made the correct decision for the time being. If Dead Ends wants to amend the policy in the future, a majority vote of dues-paying members would do the trick.

and i really don't have a problem with criminal profiling. if you know a certain demographic has a high probability of committing a crime, it makes sense to watch them. it's kinda like if i want to get a beer, i look in the fridge because i know that's usually where they are. now if i was a politically correct bullshitting liberal, i might look in the toilet because I don't want to offend the fridge.

Too bad it doesn't have the entire context with it so that it makes sense. You should take the entire quote.

Also the fact that everyone is innocent until proven guilty should count for something. It's sad that it doesn't most of the time, especially with ex-cons who've gotten felonies on their records. In this day and age it's really easy to get one and at that point you're basically a second class citizen in the eyes of most people.

I'm just saying that sometimes you can't judge a book by it's cover, and sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

However this is a well scripted example of when profiling goes really wrong.

I know I hate it when I get pegged for an illiterate redneck hick and I have to lay the knowledge down. Or how people just seem to assume that I'm a christian.
