Hearse Con, be there or accept your role as a bitter failure at life.

Nice, thanks! So, I am curious, how much of that goopety appearance of the car is actual rust, and how much of it is the cosmoline caked in dirt?

The clean area on the front bumper was wiped of by "The Star" Lloyd Coddington hisself during the live unveiling while the local celebrity hosts were yammering.....it didnt look like it deteriorated as bad as chrome that's set outside forever.....I could see the two holes on the drivers side door and fender. These photos are better than the one's I got for sure, Thanks to the Crab for sneaking away from work all week to document this event.
They announced the winner of the car yesterday at noon, we had a salesman in the office, couldn't turn on the tv, went racin' last night, missed the late news.......hafta' get a paper this morning to see who won it, and if they've determined that they're still alive. Sounded like the Tulsa Historical Society wanted it real bad, and the guy that runs the 57 Heaven museum in Branson was supposedly gonna' make an offer for it......
More later....

I don't think the Tulsa Historical Society should get it. They know jack shit about preserving whats left of it. Send it to an auto museum or the Smithonian that knows what they have. Then wash the shit off of it and seal it or there won't be anything left but a collapsing hulk. The rust is there and leaving it like it is will speed the deterioration. The moisture is in the dirt and the air around the car. Why do you think as soon as the Hunley was recovered it went into a water tank? To keep the oxygen off the metal. They will not let it dry out until the sedement was removed the salt is removed from the metal and the rust is neutralized. Then it is safe to dry out.
If I won it. I would hose it off and bring it to Georgia just to piss them off. I would also loan the car out to the most credible museum willing to care for the car properly and display the car for all to see.
