  • Haulin' Hearse model car

This is a project idea I came up with. I love building custom scale model hearses. Here's the pics....

I took two MPC 1/20th scale Corvette kits, cut them up, and spliced them together....

I then used sheet plastic to build the roof....

I then added custom fenders to the body....

I then cut out the rear tail panel between the taillights. this will be the bottom half of the door....

I used sheet plastic to make the door and window frame....

This is a mock-up of how the door will open up after it is hinged....

Here's the engine after it has been built and detailed....

The frame after it was stretched....

and the interior after it was stretched and sheet plastic was added to it....

The hearse after it was painted and put together....

This was the original hood I had planned to use, It was too common. So I decided to build a custom hood....

I plan to enter this into a model contest in November. Let me know what you think of it!

Very sweet. I hate Vettes but that is one I would rock. Are you gonna put landau bars on it?

Very cool, I see we have the same interest in hobbies, I too build and collect model cars. I have over 500 of them and I like building movie and famous cars the most.....NASCAR rocks and I have a bunch of them all 1/25 or 1/24 scale...never thought of a Corvette hearse though........

That is impressive, Wanna donate some talent this way. Better yet, loan me some talent. The only talent I have is driving.
        Seriously. VERY COOL.

Yes I do, I have the 55T'bird from American Graffiti, complete with Suzanne Somers at the wheel, also Elvira's ( Mistress of the Night) 1958 Macabe Mobile and I used a 58 T'bird, stretched it added an all chromed Allison aircraft motor, airplane canope, and tail wing, kind of cool looking...lol I have built all of the American Graffiti cars, all of the Batmobiles including George Barris's 1960's version based on a 1957 Lincoln Fatura, and the bat cave to display them in....lol Several hearse's and of course Ecto 1A, Munsters coach and many other movie and famous cars.....

I don't have any late model Thunderbirds, realy not much of a ford fan. Most of my collection is based on Chevrolet cars, 1930's to mid 1970's belair's, impalla's, chevelle's, camaro's and corvetts. I do have NASCAR's from a couple of years ago and some older King Petty cars.
