So i have here for your consideration a 1993 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. I bought this on 07/27/10 as a new daily driver. After the brakes on the truck failed i decided it was time to retire it from daily driver status.

I'm still getting to know this new friend. it has had some disappointing issues so far. It's running a little rough at some times, so i have to figure that out. i'm guessing throttle position sensor or fuel system issue.

This car also isn't nearly as nice or luxurious as its older cousin. The difference between an 85 fleetwood brougham and a 93 deville are many. First and foremost - the 93 deville is front wheel drive. Which means it doesn't handle that well. i just don't like the way front wheel drives feel or handle. It can't hold a candle to miss abigail in this respect. Why anyone would make a luxury sedan front wheel drive is beyond my reckoning. However, it is still a V8 - a 4.9 in comparison to abigail's 4.1.

The car came with a nearly uncharged R-12 AC system. Needing a snappy fix, i took it to the shop and had them convert it over to 134a and charge it up. AC runs nice and cold. Although i could've kicked myself for buying another r12 vehicle. Also, the stereo stopped working shortly after i bought it.

it also sits a bit lower to the ground than abigail. she is at just the right height to get in and out of. This one sits a bit low for my tastes.

The interior is leather. The front is pretty decent, but there are some tears in the back seat. Nothing too terrible, at least not for a cheap car. Speaking of cheap, i picked this one up for $2000 (plus tax and title), exact same price as miss abigail. The radio doesn't work, and the headliner is sagging. Otherwise, the interior is in decent shape and suitably comfortable and stylish. It has an electronic fuel gauge, which i'm not sure how i feel about.

As for the body, i like the style pretty well. it's not as fancy as the 80's body styles. I'm glad it's not as big. Rest assured, this is no small car. it is the same length as my chevy silverado. However, it is minuscule compared to abigail. This car was repainted at some point in white. The paint job is decent, but there is no clear coat. The wheels are ugly, missing their center caps, and one is mismatched. The tires are in decent shape, although one is a white wall and the others are not. This perplexes me. If i had money to throw at this thing for cosmetic purposes, steel wheels with the more traditional cadillac wire hubcaps and whites would be in order.

i think of this thing as cadillac-lite. The 90's body styles still have that stately sedan type of look. However, the 2000 styles are right-out. ugly, ugly, ugly. If i could have gotten this body style in rear wheel drive, it would indeed be a nice vehicle.

All in all, i suppose this is an okay vehicle. It rides pretty nice. The intermittent rough engine running is pesky. If i could get that resolved, it would be pretty alright.

I had an '85 6-door funeral limo that looked just slightly more boxy than that with almost the exact same interior (take the leather out and replace it with red velour). There is nothing special about those cars and I think that Cadillac made a huge mistake with them (also with the Cimarron and the Allante) when they got away from making big and luxurious rolling couches. Having said that though, it will make a fine daily driver (and knowing how much you drive, I'm sure it'll last you 100 years). Don't forget that Tony works at a shop in Monroe that could probably hook that thing up for you and make it run like a top if you need it.
