  • Hearse-Con! Big ass motherfucking hearse meet!

For those of you who haven't seen it on the DHA forums...

    It's going to be big...

It's going to be fun as hell...

    It's going to be annual...

This event started off as a smaller event and kind of exploded in a big way, so we'd like to see as many out of staters as possible, so BE THERE! Oh yeah, it's free too, so you don't have to take out a second mortgage to afford the events when you get there.

    Full info right here!!!

Gas is a concern, at my current rate of consumption, it would take a little over a 100 gallons to get there. Maybe a little more to account for the fact it is all uphill (Damn Mountains!). That's $300+ in fuel to get there, but if I save up now, it won't be so bad, or so I hope.

I would like to camp, but how cold will it be, is my question? I have a sleeping bag and some electric warmers, but if it's 10 degrees, forget it. If it is as cold as it was in the Baker Hotel the day we woke up with snot icycles hanging out of our noses, fuck that. (That was the day I decided that the heating pad put in your pillow is the most important heater to have in your coach).

I'm working seriously on making this one, even if I have to let Jenny stay by herself, because she has school.

We recently did that for a trip to the Utah Dark Arts Festival. Even with 4 people it made it entirely affordable for us to go there for that, and them's mountain miles through winding ass roads that whittle down into single lane dirt roads through towns that JimBob and his brother built! Seriously though, if you decide to do that it would be awesome. I HIGHLY recommend going to Walmart and getting one of their $15 inflatable matresses for the ride though, it will save your interior and be a lot more comfortable.

Morella, the weather should be nice and warm during that time frame. I chose May because I didn't want a month that was swelteringly hot for people to try to bring classic cars across the country in. I would say you will want to bring a sleeping bag, but you won't wake up frozen to your casket table by any means.

I'm flyin in - it would be great to meet you there in person

A friend of mine has one of those inflateable matresses which I'm going to bring.

Yes, an inflatable mattress in addition to your sleeping bag or down comforter is a must, and put a heavy blanket or tarp underneath it so that it doesn't get torn on something...and they roll up really tiny if you need room for a dozen beer coolers back there or something. I highly recommend the 12v inflator.

And don't forget to strap down your cargo, especially if you have a 3-way. If you have to slam on the brakes, the rollers provide a nice easy path for heavy objects to travel to the back of your head. I know these things.

My boss says OK and I've told Tony that I'm going, so there is little that can stop me now. It's 900 miles each way, but I'll take it nice and easy and it won't be too bad.

We are tossing it around here, we may try it, going to ask around and see if anyone's intrested in carpooling with me and sharing gas...I get really good gas mileage even driving like a total nutburger (I promise not to do 120 in a 40mph crosswind during a thunderstorm again.. if anybody is brave enough to ride with me) It's a small body, so I can seat two people up front comfortable, and three uncomfortably, as well as having room in the back...we are still tossing it around but anybody let me know if there is anyone thinking in the same direction as myself...if I knew I could count on help with gas I'd be alot less dodgy about going. Thx-Luci. Also we are coming from GEORGIA if that helps anyone

If any of you are coming near my area, Id be willing to drive up to meet and carpool the rest of the way and help with gas. I wont be able to bring my car this year, but plans are to have her all ready for next years events. I want to come, and it would be cool to catch a ride with someone.
So if anyone is going through Western Kansas, or the panhandle of Oklahoma or even Texas, let me know. I know a few ways to get to Denver that mapquest says doesnt exist also.

All these people driving in from out of state, and I'm paranoid about driving mine 100 miles. I hope I'm not a trailor queen in the making. Eek.

I'm coming from Phoenix, it's 929 miles for me. But mine is coming by trailer. All my road trips out of state are by trailer. Plus I want to bring tools & parts for the swap meet.

Thats one thing I am going to build this summer as well.. a hearse hauler. A big ole trailer that pulls my big girl easily. Bad thing is, I just sold a tandem axle trailer I had, that would of been perfect to convert. Oh well, time to hit the junk yard and see what I can find.
