I vote pretty ardently. I make no bones about my political views at any given moment and I tend to vote with my wallet, and I would hope that the idea has remained the same that the people we elect are supposed to be the representative of the will of the people that they 'represent'.
Then how in the name of zeus' butthole is this amnesty immigration bill even remotely close to passing?!
The dems say it's the republicans. The republicans say it's the damn liberals. The damn liberals say it's the right wing conservatives. The rest say it's the neo-cons, but the fucking problem is that IT'S GOD DAMNED ALL OF THEM! The left side wants the voting pool and the cheap labor, the right wants the voting pool and is siding with the companies and constituents who want the cheap labor, but I have been hard pressed to find too many people who actually believe that this is a good thing - yet our representatives (cough) are pushing this agenda like it's what people want.
I have signed petitions with grassfire, I have even donated a few bucks to the minutemen and to grassfire trying to do what I can, but really I can't help but feel a bit helpless and hopeless in the face of these retarded decisions that our government is making on our behalf.
I have felt that the solution to this invasion problem was pretty simple, humanitarian and good for taxes - fine the people that hire illegals. Make it some god awful amount of money like $10k per illegal each time you catch them. Don't fine the alien, fine the motherfucker that hired him. You pull up to a job site and you slap 100k in fines on some builder and I bet your ass that only has to happen once before he doesn't do it again. His friends will see him go out of business because he couldn't be bothered to follow the law and they won't do the same. You don't get rid of ants by killing them, you get rid of them by removing their food source - no jobs, no illegals. Problem solved.
But then people with sand in their vaginas get all up in arms about the economic impact it would have (which wouldn't be a problem if we enforced the laws we had already had in place), and how it's not fair for people just trying to get ahead and get a piece of the American dream and 'these people just want to work for a better life'. Mexico is home to the third richest man in the world! It's not like there isn't money there, there is just no middle class and as near as I can figure THAT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM.
Who would have ever thought that the French would do a better job at controlling immigration than we do?
I'm just sick of it. I go home every day and I pass by half a dozen cities that are all infested. I go through Grayson and I see 20+ illegals just standing around at the QT waiting for someone to come pick them up and work them. There is a car lot in Lawrenceville where every single car windshield has some 'buy me now' slogan written in mexican only. I hate having to press 1 for English. I'm tired of feeling like a foreigner in my own country. I don't have an issue with people coming over here legally in search of a better life, I may not like doing business with Indians (only because it can be difficult - it's a cultural thing), but I accept that they are here and they have learned our language and are at least trying to fit into our culture while still retaining their own cultural identity.
I would love to know that our elected are out there doing something for the people they represent, but it just isn't happening and isn't going to happen. They are going to keep on pandering to and living in fear of the hordes of illegals because they don't want to be crucified as xenophobes or as racists (the second a politician were to say something about them they would be labelled a racist and run out on a rail)
It's a bit disjointed as a rant, but I just felt like it.
