Not everything is about what you pay and what it's worth. Don't forget that driving the car is worth more than anything else (think about the depreciation on a new one), so get what you want. Do you want to drive the 59? Will you enjoy it enough to maintain it, or will you let it go to shit?

I was happy to see my 76 Chrysler NYB go up $2k in one year, but it's not for sale at any price. I'm going to fuck up my back putting in a new brake booster so that I can make it pass emissions, but it's a labor of love, and I do it because I love driving that particular car.

I like your 59, but to tell you the truth, I would never fix it up and drive it, so it would be a waste for you to give it to me for free. In taking a trade, make sure that it's something that you want to drive, and won't be a pain in the ass for you to keep dependable.

After looking at the pics, I would list it on e-bay with a starting bid of $5000. I could see it bringing $10k also.
As far as Corvettes, I have owned 4. An 86, 96, 01, and an 03. I strongly recommend 97 or newer. As far as problems, the 01 had NONE and it was a Z06 that I drove hard!

The only cars from the mid 80s I would trade that for would be an 86 or 87 Turbo Buick, specifically a Grand National. Those cars actually appreciate each year, gaining value. Whereas the Vette, will not and does not.

Thank you everyone for all your comments. I get at least an offer a week on her still. She's very much a part of the family and I've decided she's going to stay that way for now. So now the hard work starts in the Spring. If I have any questions I know where to ask. This is a great resource.

                Your Cadillac Hearse....

I would love to see pics...I am a lover and saver of these cars. I know what you mean about wanting the vehicle to be in the right hands...I have seen some real butchered up beauties; sad.....I have a beautiful 57 Cadillac Eureka Hearse...I can show you pics if you like....Anyway, if I like what I see, I will have an appraiser come take a closer look....If things look okay, (I read your discription no worries) I would make you an offer...

Shoot me an e-mail if you are interested.

                Thank you,

                Channing Spencer, SGT USA

What would someone pay for a 1959 Cadillac Superior hearse?

I HAVE one that I keep getting offers on, the latest being a trade for a 1986 Corvette. I LOVE my hearse but haven't been able to Keep it up, It's been sitting for a few years.
My little "GOSTBUS" (License plate) Is still in pretty good shape, it needs new paint and some reupholstering again. The engine is a 390, and should run fine once we put a new battery in it. Needs new tires too. Has some rust issues of course, It seems all hearses get this problem around the door seals. WE bought this car for $50! And drove it home, then proceeded to paint, reupholster. Dad replaced the motor. And it needed a new (bullet hole-less) windshield ($500!) but everything else is original and in working order.
I've always been told it's such a rare car. I've co-owned it with my dad for 20 years now and I'd hate to see to see it rust away, My dad is thinking the corvette deal might be a good one. If I have to finally let it go though I really want it to go to an enthusiast though, some one who really knows its worth. Does anyone have any advice? Any Knowledge about what this model of car is going for now days? I'm just starting to research this on the web and I've fallen out of the loop on such things. Would it be more worth it to fix it up again instead? I really want to keep it but think it might be better off elsewhere.

                  Uh...Channing?

Welcome to the NHAA. You just ressurected a thread that is almost 5 years old. The poster hasn't even logged on in over 2 years. Don't sit by the computer awaiting any response.

Many people here (myself included) would enjoy seeing and learning more about your '57. Everyone here loves/saves these old coaches - so jump right in, start a different thread, and ask questions.

Maybe your '57 Eureka is a recent acquisition that came out of NJ via Anthony?
