  • Hello all it has been a long time, need mercury 1957 mercury commuter amblewagon help

    ________________________________________
Yup I just picked up a 1957 mercury commuter amblewagon that has not moved much in the last 2o some odd years. The body needs minimal work including a rocker replacement and minor rust repair. The mechanicals are still in need of a good going over. What I find my self needing are outer door handles and “the shiny stuff.” The motor turns freely and the doors shut like it’s a new car. Well here is the kicker, the car only has 5235.1 miles on it and there is paperwork to back it up. Darn near the entire existence of the car was spent in a corporate garage then in storage. I’ll put up some photos, but the d/s side is the worst. Can you help me find some of the chrome and a good mercury parts place. I want to put it back in 100% bone stock unless it is safety related. Well I have run across some information that has me a bit confused. The rear gate is not a one piece that swings out but a two peace the folds down as the glass folds up. I have found a fire car that is similar, but still not sure.

I will post the complete history and the 2 owners before me as soon as I get her home. The second owner has photos he is going to send me as soon as he can. The company’s original is still on the door, but it is badly faded. I hope to get a authentic recreation to put on her.

Oldride offers classic car/truck classifieds, parts, sales, & purchases. Find your vintage vehicle here!

I know the ad expires 6/6/07 and it is for the whole car, but you might be able to get some information from this person. And you might be able to offer for the parts you need. ? Might be worth a try. I'm not much of a help sometimes but I hope this helps a little.
