Rob Zombie takes on Michael Myers in the next Halloween film.
Rob Zombie has been called upon to bring Michael Myers, one of most recognizable film characters in history, out of his cinematic crypt. Dimension Films announced Monday that Zombie (whose directorial credits include The Devil's Rejects) will write, direct, and act as musical supervisor for the first new Halloween film in five years. Set for an October 2007 release, the film will not pick up where the last installment (2002's Halloween: Resurrection) left off. Instead, the film will be an entirely new take on the Myers legend.
"I have been a huge, huge fan of John Carpenter's original film since its release," Zombie said. "So when Bob Weinstein [co-chariman of the Weinstein Company] approached me about this, I jumped at the chance to join forces with Dimension Films on this amazing project."
