  • S.C.I. - interesting tidbit

So, I figured I would call the funeral home that my coach was originally made for. I spoke with a gentleman there, explained that I recently purchased my hearse from CW Coach and was hoping to et more information on it. He explained that the home is now owned by S.C.I. and records aren't kept for more than a few years.

This is unfortunate, but I've heard various things regarding the takeover of privately owned homes by this large corporation. So, sadly, I can't get more information on my coach, but at least I know the home and I will just have to try to get information online. There was one auction on Ebay that was selling a book by the home and I was outbid .

There is one thing I am trying to figure out on my coach - a switch under the steering wheel dash. It seems to do nothing that I can tell. Any ideas?

I would guess backup lights or an aftermarket fuel pump!

If it is a combo it could have went to a siren at one time. I have one hearse with two rocker switches...one for the back up lights and one for the rear cargo lights.

Our 84 supirior has one too. it has a little red light in the switch to let you know it's on, but i have gone through the whole car ( other than tearing it apart to trace the wiring) and it doesn't seem to do anything on this car either.

It's kind of like that mysterious light switch you have in your house. "Honey, what's this switch do?"

            "I dunno, flip it."

If it is now, or was ever, a three-way, it might turn on the power to the table. Mine has it up by the glove box, though.

Could it be to turn on a leveling system?

Just like women...these cars have switches and buttons and by pressing and flipping them....ANYTHING can happen...good or bad.

It's not for the leveling system on ours. on ours the "level ride" is automatic. Fucking thing takes forever to level out too.lol.

I feel sorry for the next owner of my coach, if Tony sells it after I die. It doesn't have as many switches as Zach's, but they all do something, and there are two aircraft circuit breaker panels to deal with. My neighbor says that nobody could figure out how it all works.
