Dean did admit ownership. Here's some of the discussion from the PCS post:
Originally posted by John DorganThis is Dean Newman's vehicle.Originally posted by Dean NYou are welcome to look at it anytime you'd like. (Before its sold of course) There has been a standing invitation open to any PCS members that would like to see it in person if they are out in the Tucson Area. Len Langlois and Evan Butchers have seen it in person. As has Lou Farah and anyone that was in LA at Go West in '99.
I did not post it here as the PCS seems to be pretty divided on this particular car. And I'm really not interested in starting any fights here.

Hearse Con, be there or accept your role as a bitter failure at life.

The thing about the interior is that he is so fanatical about small details like the Coleman cooler on the roof, then he totally blows it all out the window adding stuff that didn't even exist back then, sort takes away the point in being authentic in one area.
Also, inverted subs = NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!
This NEVER sounds good.
As for my "restoration" comment, hey, who said I was joking? Is it not possible that the PCS in their ultimate wisdom has finally convinced me that customized vehicles are attrocities and that funeral cars are to be treated with dignity and respect? Perhaps I have finally seen the light and will now become an upstanding example of the values that define their club!
Really.
Seriously.
It could happen.

Hearse Con, be there or accept your role as a bitter failure at life.

Back in the day whenever someone would mention the PCS inevitably someone would go "Oh you mean those guys who don't allow caskets in hearses at their meets?" or "Oh yeah, THOSE guys, the ones that are dicks about [insert one of the myriad of things the PCS has been known to be dicks about here]" but you know, nothing really gives me more satisfaction on the topic than when someone says "Uhm, what is the PCS?" because it tells me that their years of refusing to contemporize, years of being dicks, and years of not listening when people told them their club was running down the shit tube like greased lightening is finally causing them to reap their ill gotten rewards.
To answer your question, the PCS is a club that used to be the largest collective of hearse and ambulance owners and used to put on the biggest car shows of these types of cars. They're known for being asses to everyone who tries to join that doesn't look like they came from an ad for a temp agency and they refuse to let any car that has been modified in.
One of the last things they actually had to offer the world was their message board system which I have to admit DID kick ass because there were a lot of knowledgeable people on it and it was a good place to go for answers but that got ruined when the two people running it decided they were going to start charging people to look at their classifieds and technical boards since they'd be damned if they were going to give anything to the hearse/ambulance community for free. Sadly a lot of people told them it was a bad decision but they don't like to listen to ANYTHING people have to say, even if it is feedback from their membership, so the two guys just figured to hell with everyone, they were going to do what they wanted.
To slightly misquote Sin City "They're already dead, they're just too stupid to know it". The fact is, they are still pretty sizable but everything they have is getting slowly whittled away by people like us, which is awesome since people like us were the ones they thought they were better than and could do without. Stupid fucks just couldn't realize that the new generation of hearse owners was the group they needed to be courting if they wanted to survive instead of pissing us off.
Their message board is getting buried by ones like the NHAA and Coffin-Talk, their membership is crapping out because honestly a lot of them are dying because they only seem to want people in their 40's to 80's to join plus the fact that smaller clubs that lack their politics and bullshit are actively attracting the members they COULD be getting, and finally their prestigious car shows that USED to be big are getting reamed out because there are other clubs holding meets that are better (Hearsecon itself, if it keeps growing like it has been, is going to surpass their events in a few short years)

Charging money to access a tech advice forum? Then if I go in and help someone, do I get a cut?
Nope, any technical advice that I give or receive is going to be free. These are the things that we do for each other, because we have a common bond.

Word, when they made that change and wanted to charge to use the forum I hopped here.
I was at the 00 meet in Kingston Ontario, 70% of the people we pretty damn cool, even some really old funeral directors. but the controlling 30% were just asshats, I watched my buddy Tim G. From Buffalo get docked 5 points for EACH tire on his car. It was a mint 69, looked like it just rolled out of the factory, but it had raised white letter tires. Basically its like any other major car show, all the buddys vote for each other. And all the votes in the club can only be made by present members with tenure or something.
I still have and proudly rock my "I'm going west in 2001" T shirt I got from the CA crew. Only the CA area chapter of the PCS had things figured out.
