Do you know why that happens? I have the same car, and I just mentioned the other day on one of these forums that the gearshift was hard to put into park, even with both hands, and sometimes the lever will stay up there, with the pointer in park, but the car is still in reverse, and it rolls away when you get out. This has been a Ford problem since the 60's, they've had 40 years to fix it, and you can't sue Ford for damage unless you have the parking brake set and the key off and out, because that was part of a court ruling. To release the brake, you have to start the car, and you either have to wait for the auto brake release, which delays, or fish down there for the manual one without pulling your hood release by mistake, while your criminal is driving away. They need to start looking at a RWD Dodge for a police car replacement. I watch a lot of police shows, and I've seen several of these Crown Vics roll away. Mine hasn't yet, because I always put the brake on, but a cop can't do that. They have to put it in park and jump out for foot putsuit, and be ready to jump right back in and give vehicle chase again.
