  • The 59 random stuff.

Disclaimer before you give your opinions don't not keep in mind value of the car going down due to mods, I do not care, I just wanna have my own creation. I never plan to sell this car..ever.

I was thinking about 86ing the side chrome and shaving the door handles, going for the minimalist and or "street" look (living in Cali. comes to mind) like this.

Or keep all the chrome and door handles which actually make the rims "pop" more. The 59 had some very unique side chrome/trim the shape and contour, I'd hate to get rid of it but would. Reading an article on zz tops 48 Cadillac "Cadzilla" (correct year?) in car craft magazine when I was 18 they were looking at it and trying to decide whether to chop the top on the already mint condition 48. After a long moment of silence Billy Gibbons spoke up and said... your torch or mine?

Also what are some bolt on products I can add to the 390 just to give it a little more umph.

Laker pipes, how do they work/purpose? Whats the price and can I do it myself.....with the help of Dave. lol

ok pros......And without me saying anything.... what is the exact model/style of my 59. There is a reason I ask. I'll explain later.

Im not sure of the model as in fleetwood, deville etc. but I do know for a fact you have a 4 door coupe. (no seperation bar between the front and back doors) Safety regulations banned those in the late 70's due to roof collapses in the event of rollover.

that may help because on some cars 4 door coupes were only available in a particular model class.

(interestingly there also used to be a 4 door sedan, which HAD a seperation bar and shorter front doors. In the modern age a coupe is a 2 door and a sedan a 4, but that wasn't always the case)

No I'm in Ga. I think the car at one time was in Utah, I've been trying to get that plate off with no luck, time to break out the zip saw and cut the screws. I'm Kevin... Dispain disPAIN'Sbac

I wouldn't lower it any more than it is because the Atlanta area roads are not friendly to cars that low.

Hmm this is going to be a good discussion. Watch this video chase pay close attention at 4min 45 sec. (shows my exact car, rear visor and all) will you still say for a fact it's a coupe? Then I'll comment again.

1 of 4 parts below, I suggest watching all 4 parts, very educational to the Cadillac fan. Part one here is the issues at hand though.

Um yea riding down the road one of my boys was looking around the car and stated, "were fuckin dead if this bith rolls over" hopefully there is enough old school steel in the 4 corners to protect us, but even then the roof is so fuckin low. But I love it.

P.S whats the weight of my car? Any educated guesses?

Nah it's gotta nice look right now, don't wanna drop it anymore. I do however wanna bag it in the future one being reason, rough roads in the Atl. FUCKIN awful!!! When entering know rough terrain I can raise the car to accommodate conditions.

BTW if you get in a crazy enough accident to roll that big boy, you're dead anyway.

I do know that Offenhauser offers a 3 duce and a dual quad intake for the old 390. My Elvira had the original dual quad manifold on it when I got her but I removed and sold it about 20 years ago. Also as far as lifters and pistons they are the exact same part numbers as a small block Chevy, just drop the C on the end, they work just fine in the 390 Caddy motor. Crankshaft, rods and cam are strickly Caddy items, it took me almost ten years to find the cam and crank for my 390. High performance distributor and carbs can be small block Chevy also, they bolt on perfectly as well. I am utilizing a Carter AFB four bbl carb with a track kit and she runs good with great response, about 20 mpg on the highway. A after market flexfan and custom shroud helps keep her cooler than the old stock stuff. Done away with the old generator and voltage regulator and went with a G.M. integeral altinator, about 80 amps, chromed of course...lol She is no hotrod by any means but she runs 75 to 85 mph all day with no problems at all.

It's your car. Do what you want with it.
If anyone gives you grief, tell 'em to get bent. It's your car. They probably drive a fuckin' Kia anyway...

Also "series 62" is that correct? A S.62 is not top of the line but not bottom either, supposed to be right under one of the top of the line models. Ok, where does Veranda come in? Billy said it was also called a Veranda meaning flat top I can't find anything anywhere about a Veranda, was that a street nick name? And a curve ball now, on the name plate (on seat) it says Interior by Fleetwood.
Production Total: 12308 Is this a low run for my exact model or standard? Seems like a low run to me.
