Hey guys! My name is Loren and I'm the new guy here. I've had a strange obsession for hearses for the longest time and now that I'm a little older and have spending money I'm looking for the most elusive of them all, the 59 Miller-Meteor Cadillac (although I am willing to settle for a Superior also). I've been lurking for a few weeks since I've turned the heat up on my search and I can tell this forum is a great place to help fuel my search. All little bit more about myself, I work for Uncle Sam and I'm an avid car collector. You can read about my cars (and my prized one) at www.my69cougareliminator.com. I hope one day I can join the ranks of everyone here and flaunt my future hearse!

Welcome aboard.
The 59s are much sought-after, and usually overpriced, but most any car that you buy that is more than 20 years old is going to require lots of time and money, so you want to be sure that you buy exactly what you want before you get started. That's all the preaching I'll do for today...I promise.
You can find the answer to just about any hearse question here, as well as post your pictures and show off what you've done, or just ramble on about whatever here in the tomb, which is most of what I do. I do have a 76 Superior Crown, though, which I am planning to make convertible for use as a hearse, limo or camper. I like to do electrical work and modifications.
Enjoy the hobby.

Oh I'm no stranger to the car hobby, I've done my fair share of restorations. I know I'm gonna have a much better shot at finding a fixer-upper which is not a problem to me. Thanks for your kind words though. About on average though how often do 59s pop up that are worth saving? I mean, I see that Superior that's for sale but that guy is crazy wanting that kind of money for that condition...that's highway robbery!

Not that much.
And get used to that. But if you really want to pay stupid prices for rust, I think I still have some of the floorboard remnants that fell out of my '53 chevy out in the driveway I'll sell you.
I'm just being honest. Look, the prices have been inflated for almost 2 decades on those cars. It won't get any better unless you are lucky enough to come across someone who will lose their house or business over a few grand if they dont sell it quick, so you may have a chance.........

Welcome to the NHAA Loren! So you want a '59 huh? Well as the others have said, every so often one turns up. Several have surfaced lately but have had extreme price tags on them. Atti posted about the '59 he found in Mexico that seems like a great deal compared to anything else recently but I haven't heard if it sold yet or not. Thank that damn Ghostbusters movie for the prices you see!

They're still around. I'll bet I've seen two 59's for sale over the last year, and I wasn't even looking. The problem is, no matter where you live, they always seem to be on the other side of the country.
This is a small community. If you find one that you're serious about buying, I suggest posting it here and asking if anyone knows about it. The chance that someone at NHAA would be not only willing but able to buy it out from under you is probably worth taking, considering that someone has probably seen the coach and knows its story, and will be able to tell you if the seller intends to break it off in your ass. I've seen several people saved from getting ripped off.

Good luck on your endeavor to find a nice '59. It is considered by some to be the holy grail of hearses, and while they are cool, spend some time looking at other ones and see if there is something else that suits your fancy too. That one off year is by far the most expensive. Atti has posted quite a few of them for sale recently that could be good projects.
Personally, I'd like to have a '55 Flower Car or another '67 Superior Sideloader or a '72 Factory Limo (in pepper green metallic).
