  • YEEEEEEEEESSS!!!!!!!

Tenaciousness pays off! For the last TEN FUCKING MONTHS I have been trying to find a windshield for my 68. On what’s been pretty much a daily basis, I’ve looked through Google, Craig’s list and numerous other sites, sometimes spending a couple of hours at a time in the pursuit of it. I don’t even want to think of how many hours I’ve spent in front of this time sucking whore called a lap top. So many times I’d find something that would work, but it’s too far away, or it’s glass is smashed, or their unwilling to part it out, or they want a thousand bucks and want me to come pull it (and its cracked) and so on and so on. Then, finally, I see a posting on Craig’s list for a 70 superior caddy that’s being parted out. Here’s a chase I’ve been on several times before. I go to this guys work, (in a junk yard) look at the windshield which is NOT stock, but a replacement. A God Damn newer one! AND it’s already been pulled! (From the looks of it this thing was probably cast in the mid to late eighties, so it’s 15 to 20 years younger than the car!) No pitting in the glass around the edges, no cracks, no bb holes where it’s been shot at. And the tinting is smoother than the original style, it fades smoother from the darker strip at to where it goes clear about one third of the way down.

So here I am, swooning, drooling and about to load my pants, front and rear, then he tells me the price.

    $300.00

    In my account…

    $360.00

Holy shit on a shingle and call it a sandwich God….

I’m still in la la land.

Friggin' bitchin'! Love hearing how persistence pays off. Congrats!!!

Or perhaps you finally got around to reading The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, realized that the universal laws of attraction unwaiver like the laws of physics, and that windshield responded to your pain.

OK, Atti, that's a little creepy. Don't get me wrong, mucho thanks for the grats, it's just that a friend of mine lent me her copy of "The Secret" a few months ago and has been on me to watch it.

      Hmmmm...maybe I should....

about 5 years ago at my grandmthers funeral there was a 68 caddy under a falling barn, that started my desire for a hearse , he said he would take $1000 small town called Section, Al , he may still have it and be willing to sell. only funeral home in town but i don't rember the name. not much help but putting it out there anyway.and yeah a 68 is sinister and way cool

            10 months? Nice!

I know that feeling though. It took me 10 years to find the one for my '65, but I finaly found a new one out of mexico. It was $1200, and my insurance paid for the whole thing, lol.

                Thanks!

It's not a competition, it's all about the quest for that one (or in most cases, many, lol) part that you just can't find. (I still have a big list for mine)

And yep, it lays right flat on the ground, in fact I've drug off about 1 1/4" of the body in the front already, because it was the first thing that touched the ground, lol. It loves to drag and send 60 feet of sparks out the back at 70mph on the freeway.

I'm glad yours is back on the road again.
