Did you know that the national debt is twice what it was just a couple of years ago?
I don't know who you blame for it, but Tony and I run our business as well as our personal affairs, mostly on a cash business without debt. If we don't have the money to spend, we just don't spend it. Why can't the government be so intelligent? You don't throw money away on bullshit when you are 950 trillion dollars in debt. If you look around at some of the things that the government spends money on, it is ridiculous. Our company was losing money last year, so why didn't they come and bail us out? Because, like many of the companies that were bailed out, we did not want to be owned by the government, at the taxpayers' expense.
Now there are even private companies which wish to take over your debt, but own your house in return. Do yourself a favor, and if you do not have the money to spend, do not spend it. I had some medical and dental bills recently, and rather than run up credit card debt, I simply cut back on some bills; for instance, if my daughter wants to drive a car, she can use Tony's, but she will have to pay maintenance and insurance herself. Her boyfriend's family makes more money that we do, yet he does not have a car. Why should we pay $200 a month in expenses for Jenny to have one when we cannot afford it? If it gets too cold this winter, I will give her a ride to school. If she does not feel safe, her boyfriend can escort her. He does not do anything but sit around his parents' house and sell dope once in a while anyway. We are also changing cell phone providers and saving $100 per month.
I wish that the government would take on this same philosophy. The way to get rid of debt is not to spend more money. It is the opposite. If a congressman cannot get elected without bringing home the pork, then perhaps he does not deserve to be elected. I have not voted in two years, but I am definitely going to vote for a Republican congress next year, as I think that most people who have seen what is going on are going to. I am not saying that they will be perfect, but at least they will have a chance to speak, which they do not have now.
