Actually it wasn't originally built as a first-call car... it was built as a landau hearse. This was built by a lesser-known coachbuilder & they obviously converted station wagons into low-end hearses. It was built by Thacker Coach & is officially a "Custom Landau" edition. Here's some pix of another one just like it in the link above.

Although they may have seen some use in smaller funeral homes as a main line hearse, they were certainly used by some funeral homes as firsy call vehicles. I remember back in the 1970's a similar Abbott and Hast Conversion was owned by a funeral home in Hollywood as a first call car, and they would rent a Cadillac coach for funeral services. "It is too fugly for a funeral"- Actually the proportioning isn't all that bad. As far as something to fugly for funeral use, I'd reserve that for a Hummer converted to funeral use, or that ugly limo style coach that they used to transport Michael Jackson to Forest Lawn.Last edited by Otto Baron; 09-23-2009, 04:31 AM.
