I was really happy to hear him say that he had a water-cooled intercooler. I couldn't figure out how else he was going to push that much air through it. Anyone know how much MAP he got out of it, how much of a nitrous shot he was using, or if he was using alcohol or avgas?
Some of the aircraft at Reno are pushing 100" or more through roundmotors, which just blows my mind. On the 2800's, you have to throttle back to shift the blower clutches at 7000 MSL, and I've never seen one push more than 35 or so on 100 LL without detonating. Of course, we were pushing freight in 45-year-old airplanes. We ran some of them low blower only because they were burning 10 gallons of oil an hour. That shit gets expensive.
