  • How Would You Fix the Economy?

I got this in an email, makes sense to me.

This is from an article in the St. Petersburg, FL Times Newspaper on Sunday.

The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I think this guy nailed it!

    Dear Mr.. President:

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America’s economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

    1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings -
    Unemployment fixed.

    2) They MUST buy a new American car. Forty million cars ordered-
    Auto Industry fixed.

    3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage-
    Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

If more money is needed, have all members of Congress

and their constituents pay their taxes....

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

    If not, please disregard.
    Then shoot yourself!!!!

    1 job opening

Honestly I think we just need a really good virus that wipes out 1/3 of the population. It would solve many problems.

      Not so sure...

If they retire early, you lose 15 years they pay in to social security.

They say if you never slow down, you never get old. Now they may become more lethargic and get fat and sick thus increasing healthcare.

So many "American" cars are built in Mexico and Canada. 70% of Toyotas are now built in the States.

If they pay off thier mortgage early, the banks lose millions in interest (read profit)

If they spend too much on the new house (you know they will over buy with that big chunk of change) they may not be able to afford the heating/cooling, maintenence, hoa, furnishing it, etc etc.

Give them a million bucks, and they will surely blow it way too soon before they die. They are going to be retired for about 20 years. Most big money winners (ie lottery winners) can't budget for shit. They end up going broke.

I am all for the fair tax but this won't work until we can stop the assholes in Washington from lending/spending/giving it all away to the wrong people, programs, grants etc.

My suggestion is not to talk politics or religion, but I don't always take my own advice.

Suffice it to say that something really ugly is coming down the pipes, and you might want to turn to the right to avoid it.
