Six weeks ago, I was taking 140 mg/day of Oxycontin, and 40 mg/day of Valium, which is almost as bad as a heroin addiction. I kicked it, cold turkey.
Two or three weeks into it, I got sick, threw up, fell down on the floor and couldn't get up, and had to go to the ER (not the same one that accused me of using meth, I'll never go there again). I made it through that with a little lorazepan and promethazine for the nausea, and returned home a few hours later.
I can almost feel my feet again. They were numb at first. I'm glad that the cold sweats are over. I used to have to change my clothes three times during the night because I was soaked with sweat.
Sometimes I get the cold shakes in the morning, but I have found an over-the-counter cure that works. At Timberline ski area, it was called a Mogul Masher. You make a cup of hot chocolate, pour in a shot of a good-quality 90-proof peppermint schnapps, and top it with whipped cream. Within ten minutes, you're toasty and cozy. Working outside helps as well, especially when it's a fun project, like...rewiring a hearse?
Hold the applause. I did this so that I could pass the DOT physical and get into truck driving school. I have to get my broken tooth crowned...the rent-a-cops broke it when they grabbed me by the hair and pounded my head into the asphalt. I also need new glasses, a hard hat, orange vest, goggles, warm layered clothes, etc., but I think that I should be doing my student driver run by February, with Tony as my instructor. He gets paid for teaching me...a win/win situation. We can make $3k - $5k a week, if all goes well, and start looking at that rural land in Tennessee. Cross your fingers.
