My first backing track created from scratch, with ProTools. It still needs some wrinkles ironed out, but, I have to say that it is just fucking awesome, what can be done with MIDI. I was told that nobody can create karaoke backing tracks totally with MIDI, but I have to question that one...look what you can do with the basic crap that comes with ProTools LE. I haven't even started shopping for plugins yet.
If any of you musicians have any suggestions on how to make this better, I will listen in humility...I'm new at this.
I finished this track, working from a live recording with vocals, in two days, and it only takes me a few minutes to make a karaoke CDG with the lyrics in in. The song is actually a graphic description of sucking a guy's cock, but since it's in French, I doubt anyone will notice when I do it on karaoke night. I think it's probably safe to say that I am the only one in the world who has produced a karaoke version of this song.
I had to spring for a new Dell and some studio monitors this trip, but next time we're going to get me a guitar and a crybaby pedal. I haven't picked one up in 20 years, but I definitely look forward to it.
