The city tells us how to keep our lawn and how to trim our trees. We have to buy our water from the city and pay them for sewer service, plus taxes. Our utility costs are skyrocketing, as the value of the dollar goes down, but if we try to make the same amount of real money, in dollars, to make up the difference, then the government says that we're actually making more money, and should have to pay more taxes. Huh?

Has anyone tried to buy or sell a house lately? The government is closing in, taking over the real estate business, and unless there is a radical change, it won't be much longer before own all real estate. It's not something that just happened, with Obamacare and all, it is something that has been slowly happening over the last century. Obama and Friends are just accelerating the process.
I do but not with regards to my home as I too must pay rent to Uncle Sam in order to stay here. Our country has subscribed to a fee simple configuration towards real estate for quite some time before I was born. Where I live, I am able to generate my own electrical power (if needed, it is much cheaper to just buy it), store 13,500 watt/hours at a time and handle my own well/septic systems. My utility costs are nearly 15 percent higher than they were when I moved here 8 years ago but I'm making 300 percent of the salary I was then because my planning took inflation into account. I do not consider it slavery because at the end of the day, all of it was just meant to keep me from being bored. My Eureka has a luggage rack but I don't plan on taking anything with me just the same.

I have recently made several efforts to purchase investment properties but found that realtors were my problem and not the government though I'll admit to being surprised when I learned that you're no longer allowed to simply bring all the cash to the closing and be done with it. As an aside, I still hope all real estate agents have a rash. This country as you expected it to be ended after the Civil War. The most egregious adjustments in my lifetime were the War on Drugs modifications that began in the 80's. It was these events where the state made it ok to remove people's property at will without any need for accountability. They had been pulling these kinds of shenanigans for more than 100 years prior to my arrival though.

To the plus, our situation (rich taking advantage of the poor) is not unique over the last five or ten thousand years so at the very least we have an idea of what to expect. I have found no more reason to be upset about this cycle than watching a sun rise.
