  • Hearse/Death Songs

Just curious if anyone out there wanted to post their favorite Hearse/Death song.....from ancient to current.

Mine is "Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones

favorite lyrics quote - "I see a line of cars, And they're all painted black, With flowers and my love, Both never to come back."

I have to go with Alex's "Love Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me".

(I think I have this right)

    First I liked you
    Then I loved you
Then I kissed you and then I killed you
    When I feel really naughty
    I undressed your dead body
    Then I take her
    And I make her
Do all the nasty things she wouldn't do to me
    When she was alive

I really love the title of this song, but I've only seen it proformed once. The Black Parade

"Because one day I leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
      To join the black parade."

Speaking of songs, this is where I got my nickname.

        by Timbuk3

Reverend Jack And His Roamin' Cadillac Church

        Come hell or high water
A soul's got to find some release
        Some find it in power
        And some in heavenly peace
        Some look to the preacher
As he speaks from his holy perch
Me, I back Rev. Jack & his Roamin Cadillac Church

So if you're stuck at the station
On the road to the Glory on High
        If you need some inspiration
He's got more than your money can buy
        If you're lookin for salvation
Well my friend it's the end of your search
Here comes Rev. Jack & his Roamin Cadillac Church

Ain't no use watchin the road, son
When you ride in his automobile
Cause we're all back seat drivers,
& there's nobody at the wheel

        Now for the well-to-do doctor
        There's a home & a summer retreat
        And for the jet-settin banker
There's a place in the social elite
But for the poor & the hungry
All the lost souls left in the lurch
There's just Rev. Jack & his Roamin Cadillac Church

I have a couple of really decent hearse songs for download on the hearseclub.com website, go to the resources page at http://www.hearseclub.com/resources/resources.htm and hit the hearse music link. I think my favorite is Big Black Hearse by Forbidden Dimension, that song kicks ASS.

Probly my favorite is "Early Grave" by the Flametrick Subs...
"Things sure look bad, but they could be worse,
but I'm not sad, cause there's still room for rockin' in the back of the hearse."
Deadbolts "The Hearse" " I love it when they're all painted black, I like when its a landau Cadillac"
A blues standard!: I believe originally by Snooky Pryor(?) Boogie Disease "Gotta' boogie for the doctor, gotta' boogie for the nurse, gonna' keep on boogin', till they throw me in the hearse" My favorite version of this is by 13.

Not a hearse song, but a great hearse line comes from a new song that just came out. Its called On the radio by regina spektor. Opening line is....

                "This is how it works
                It feels a little worse
Than when we drove our hearse
                Right through that screaming crowd
                While laughing up a storm"

Rest of the song pretty much sucks, but that line makes the whole song worth listening too.

Thanks, Zach. I actually went right for the Bach and Chopin. I think I'll drive the hearse to work and leave the funeral march playing all day.

I also don't like the version of the fugue that I have. It has way too much staccato. Maybe this one will be better.

Another fun song. It's not technically a hearse song, but close enough. Marily Manson just came out with a remix of the song this is halloween from nightmare before christmas. Its pretty cool.

Yeah, Ryan - that's the Ghastly Ones, pictured here at Atlanta's very own Drive-InVasion.
Zac, you may now commence your "douchebag with his arms folded in front of his car pose" rant.

also, i tried to buy their cd "a haunting we will go go" from amazon but it was like rediculously expensive. what's up with that?

Guy on right: HUGE douchebag. Ask anybody.

Ghastly Ones played the drive-in last labor day with Southern Culture on the Skids and Blue Oyster Cult (who I missed and and am very pissed about it)
