  • Complete set of rollers for a Eureka funeral coach

    Hey guys,

I just bought a 1980 Buick Hearse that has a complete set rollers in great shape. I know to some of you this is a complete sacrilege, but Im planning on removing them so that I can build in a sleeping area in the back. I want to use the Hearse for shows I attend for my business and was hoping the rollers could help me finance a little of the upgrades I need for this project. Any thought on this would be huge cause I'm kind of going at this blind since this is my first Hearse. Are they worth anything? Is There a market? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

    Dave,
I've taken the rollers out on a couple of my hearses. I would think there might be a market for them, but the only way that you'll know is to list them. If you decide to sell the hearse someday you might want to keep them. The shipping on them is going to be pretty high as well. Just my thoughts.

I personally would not remove the rollers. It would be very easy to put a mattress or pad over the rollers. If you ever sell it, some, if not most people, would want the rollers intact.

        ^x2, echoing Abnorml's sentiment.

For a complete set of Eureka rollers of this vintage in good shape (no heavy casket scrapes), bier tracks, and runners, expect $150-175. I've sold an exact set before.

Nikki and I once threw a futon mattress in the back of mine for a long trip and it was perfect. When we weren't going on long trips I could put a casket back there without screwing anything up.

x4 i have slept in the back of mine a few times on a twin-sized air mattress. It may not be as comfy as a futon, but deflated, it folds up nicely and goes in the church truck compartment along with the pump.
