Acme didn't start until 1950...so I'll go with National.

This Acme is Not a '48

One thing is for certain, its not a '48. This one is a '53 Pontiac.

The divider cabinets look like Acme. Figuring that this is a '53 (why he put '48 is anybody's guess). This would fall into Acme's timeframe. National's cabinets were flat plus National had a script logo on each front fender under the trim & they do not look like Barnett. Hope that helps.

I emailed the guy. Want to see what he puts down.

Just heard back from the seller. He has no idea who the coachbuilder is. I still believe Acme.

second, I pointed out that it is a '53 w/ documentation. He swears that it is a '48 since that is what the title states and the title is clear. His words:"no sir ...it's a 48 clear title .!!! mrs known better..." A quick search of the net will show the major difference between a 1948 Pontiac and a 1953 Pontiac and this is a '53. Sounds like maybe cowl tags and vin door post tags may have been altered to match some title. Guess he wants to hold onto it a while longer.

My friend/fellow club member Sasha has an Acme '53. Pictures can be found at http://www.thedeadsociety.com/media/...ame&Qis=M#qdig

If anyone wants me to get pictures of anything specific to compare let me know. I'll actually see it tonight as I help her move even though it's covered under a tarp.
