  • Picking up a new tow rig tomorrow

I made a deal to buy a new tow rig. It is a 1984 chevy c30 3+3 wedgeback tow truck, has a 10,000LB winch, emergency lights, 454 engine, 4 sp trans with granny gear, fresh tune up, service and 2 new batterys. I talked him down to $3500. Now I can tote my hearse rather than tow it. The truck does have a trailer hitch so I can tow one and carry one.
I have to go to GA tomorrow to pick it up. Driving down, loading up my truck and driving the new truck back.
It needs a couple of things, donut gasket, radio, a plug for the trailer hook up, and some clean up and hopefully it will be ready for the Gulches trip.

Sweet, the 4drs. will come in very handy. Not gonna be cheap to feed though. My 454 dualie empties the gas tank like flushing the toilet.

      very nice and sweet price

Do check with the DOT laws they will jump all over that thing not sure if you can still get by with not for hire anymore.
anything over 10000 lbs the Dot can and will stop you.

        That is pretty badass.

I can only imagine the epic use of gas though with your hearse on the back. =)

My 454 Dually gets a MAX of 10mpg, with just me in it.

You might want to check how much weight that can legally carry. Those rigs are usually for race cars. You'll notice few flatbeds on the road anymore that are in that class because they were always overweight. Having to go over a scale with that and a 5000 lb. car on the back could be a wake up call. A couple thousand overweight and you are looking at a fine into 4 figures.
