Need help moving my girl!!!

Hello everyone. First time posting here. I recetly moved to North dakota from Wisconsin. I have a 1972 M+M caddy stuck in Wisconsin still due to overheating issues. Any ideas how i can get her to her new home without breaking the bank? I have a friend who would be able to tow it out but I cant find a rental trailer to handle her size. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Look around and compare prices on shipping it to your door. In the long run you'll not regret paying someone to haul it, especially after you factor in gas, the distance, your time, and the hassles of hauling something so big & heavy.
I had this one hauled from Virginia Beach to northern Ohio for $650 and for that price it was WELL worth a few simple phone calls...

Overheating issue? Anything in particular? Thermostat still good? Water pump still spinning freely? Radiator good?

I think it's the thermostat. I tried driving it out here and I made it thirty miles. I bought it in Indiana and when I was bringing it home it overheated because the radiator was bad. I had a shop put one in so I could get it home. Turns out that radiator is way too small for the car. I usually only drive it around town so it hasnt given me any problems. I dont know if that will be a problem on a long trip. I've gotten qoutes from shipping companies and the lowest I've gotten so far is $700. I dont have that right now. Nor do I have the time to go back to Wisconsin and resolve the overheating problem and bring it back myself. chestpuller, It's about a 520 mile drive. Roughly 8-9 hours. Any way you could give me a qoute?

The engine runs pretty strong but it wasn't really taken care of by the previous owners so the chance of someting else going wrong on a long drive feels pretty high to me.

well youd be paying from alaska to there and back after delivery so probably more then 700

Where in wisconsin is it and how long do you have to get it moved? Also, I had a similar problem with a car I pick up in Chicago last year. (P71, lol) Pulled the thermostat out and hard-wired the fan. It got me home, 3 hours away.

Realistically Shelby's solution might work for you.

Figure it's 520 miles, you'll get ~10 mpg, so 52 gallons of fuel at $3.92 a gallon is just a hair over $200. If you did a rental car as a chaser or just something that got good gas mileage, you could be out there and back for less than $400, which is only about 60% as much as you'll pay to have someone else move it.

I've got a few days off coming up soon so I might go back. Change my radiator cap and thermostat out and see how she runs.

I'd get a water pump, hoses and belt, and carry enough tools and water to change it out with on the road side rest stop. if you don't need don't open the box, and return it. just encase the water pump is going out and you don't know it. the one one hearse went out and I changed it in the store parking lot in bout an hour. it costed about $45 for the pump and $7 for a belt and I replaced the $12 hose beings it was from 1978.

I'm doing a lot better these days. I had a tumor removed and lived through that. now only have two balls, and had some bad stuff with my face I'm getting fixed. I lost just about all my teeth and some bones on my jaw. and to make things worse I got a married ex girlfriend stalking me, a 63 yo cougar from up north western US some where, that don't like sex, trying to come see me, and a cute short cancer survivor from Ok, with spoiled brats for kids wanting to move in with me.
And too make things worse, I don't know if the alternator on my hearse is working or not! it's hard to get out of town when you standing on the side of the road with jumper cable..lol.
SOOO what did I miss? anything exciting?
