  • hearserentals.com (a new site I made this morning)

I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while, today I finally went with it.

I still need to put some actual information up but the basic framework is there.

This isn't just for me or my hearse club. I've made this as a go-to page for anyone looking for hearse rental information. I plan to have state by state listings + international and a forum so people can list that they're looking to rent.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'm all ears.

Well they can if they have a licenced FD in the car. However I'm sure that most would rather use their own hearse/rent one from another company and charge an arm and a leg for it. So yeah funerals are probably out in that regard.

Can you post a link? Can't find your new site using Yahoo or Google search engines.
I like the idea and am all for it though! Having done several weddings and other rental events with my coaches mostly through word-of-mouth or Chris's "haunted vehicles" website, this will be a great database as you build the site and we add our info and pictures.

Many funeral homes also require you have a CDL w/ a passenger endorsement

I rented mine out twice last October for Halloween stuff, 1 party and one big Halloween night event. I made $500 total doing this and had a lot of fun. Both mine were referrals from a friend who owns a high end mobile detailing company.
So what I am saying is there is good money to be made, and this is a great idea but may be very hard to pull off on a large scale.
The problem with going this big though will be getting reliable people to handle the jobs. Not just reliable but professional as well.
The party I did was at former Atlanta Braves pitcher Tom Glavine's house. I could not show up and act all stupid asking for autographs and shit. Not that I would do that, I don't like baseball. If the person does not act professional the site will get a bad rep and it will all be for nothing. Same if you book a rental and the local person fails to show.

Maybe we could have a single forum on here where you could post the rental requests when they come in. Then you could try and get a local person to fill the order.

I can see having to have commercial insurance on it, but I don't think a CDL is required (that's for large trucks). A standard chauffeur's license should be adequate enough.

As far as the site goes, I plan on having users on there with a forum and ratings, sort of like how e-bay does it.

I really like the idea of adding a subforum that might actually get used to this site though (not that we don't already have enough subforums).

Also Zach can eat a dick because I've been hounding him for his "hearse owners database list" that he's been hoarding. Or maybe I'm the only one that signed the damn thing and that's why he doesn't bother sending me a copy. I even said I'd settle for just Michigan owners. If he wants to work with me on this fine but I'm... less than pleased with his effort on that.

If anyone else wants to help me with this that would be great too since I have no clue what I'm doing and that e-bay ratings thing sounds hard to code.

I had a taxi service not long ago. It required commercial insurance, a chauffeur's license, and a yearly mechanical inspection at a state licensed shop. That's a place to start any way. You could always do the thumbs up, thumbs down, way of rating.

I would only be interested in renting mine as a decoration where I drive it out for the night and drive it home after. Maybe help scare people while I am there. This save me the need for extra insurance and license.

Honeslty the chaufer's license wasn't hard to get and didn't cost that much. I agree that the extra insurance would be bullshit though.

The extra insurance is to cover the added liability of passengers and the increased amount of time the vehicle spends on the road. Their way of thinking is the extra time on the road increases the odds of having an accident. It also covers your butt in case of lawsuit. If the driver has an at fault accident and you get sued (very likely as everybody wants that big payout) then you are covered. Otherwise it could be a personal nightmare.

Agreed and you bring up a good point... keep an eye on your hearse! Every year I get hit up to park my hearses in someone's driveway to be a part of their halloween display. No way am I leaving my hearses sitting unattended at night for some fools to tear them up! Just visiting the halloween stores around here and watching the customers... together in a group they're a bunch of assholes breaking the display stuff and laughing about it.
