Well the guys at work were tellin me about this hearse they saw in HotRod
it s Thundertaker i tried to explain its not a hearse ,but one hell f a FANTASTIC
build its a Skyview built for a hotel in Utah

It started out as a hearse. Great custom, sad a scarce car was used. Think it was in pretty sad shape to begin with though?

Thundertaker started as a '60 Superior Royale Landaulet endloader that came out of Oregon around '06. It was never a '59 Superior Broadmoor. Bryan Fuller of Fuller Hot Rods took 3 years building Thundertaker. The spread in Hot Rod Magazine was actually pretty decent if you even bothered to read it.

The Broadmoor you attached was JUST PHOTOGRAPHED FOR THE FIRST TIME when it debuted at a concours last summer. It belongs to a private collector in Ohio. I have seen this coach in person, both privately before and after public debut. The owner took the best of several '59 Broadmoors (he owned 5, all but 1 made!) for its 100 pt restoration. You must not have even read the link you provided, which hinted at these facts.

Atti... I may be wrong, I was once I think back in 1971 But, I believe the original post mentioned the Thundertaker. There is one photo of it in the set they posted but the rest are of the Broadmore. I know my comment was aimed towards the Thundertaker which is a Hot Rod made from a hearse. But it sits on a hand built Art Morrison Hot Rod Chassis, had a souped up engine, and the basic car used was in poor shape originally from project photos I have seen?

Original post mentioned Thundertaker starting as a '59 Superior Broadmoor, which is a complete fallacy. I provided a little background on EACH car pictured, both Thundertaker and that Broadmoor.

'60 Superior Royale Landaulet looked like a decent starting point. As paint was stripped away, more Swiss cheese rust out on quarter panels became prevalent. A Broadmoor was not copied for Thundertaker. Windows added between C and D pillars were an ingenious idea utilizing '59-'64 Superior front door window trim reversed on opposite sides. Initial concept also used reversed working vent windows but ultimately the vent window stainless was welded becoming one piece, allowing for larger side windows.

Restored Broadmoor cherry picked parts from 5 of the 6 '59 Broadmoors made before other 4 were passed along.

And that may be so now because the photos are now gone and the only thing I read, and for someone who didn't know about the Broadmore, was Thundertaker and a Skyview. Then they provided the link which clearly shows a different car. But his original post included some picture thumbnails and the first was the Thundertaker and was what I was commenting on. Oh well, it is now sorted out.

Huff, image you attached is not a before picture. Transformation into Thundertaker has already begun: Rear windows cut where there were none. Fins fabricated taller.
