  • Our display hearse was vandilized on Nov. 7. Need help with moving forward.

(admins move this if it's in the wrong section)

I don't own Deadland Haunted Woods, I'm just a lowly actor. But in the last 3 years my whole family has become involved so much so that this past year we helped build most of the sets. DLW is now family to us and when someone hurts a member of your family you want to take action, so I am.

I am posting this all over the web in hope of getting any leads.

On Nov. 7, someone vandalized our beloved Deadland Haunted Woods hearse. The damage was significant and the owners are questioning if it can even be repaired. If you have any information about this PLEASE contact the Wilson County Tennessee Sheriffs Dept at (615) 444-1412. To some it's just a car but to us Dead Heads it like family.

Not only are we looking for the culprits but we are also hunting for a donor car for the glass. I haven't seen the damage but have been told it's pretty extensive. :-(

Hope whomever is responsible is caught and prosecuted.

I can probably help with glass other than windshield.

ok here's the damage.... Windshield, drivers door, side door and rear door. Luckily there was no body damage and all the broken glass in on the drivers side

I did find out it is a 1974 cadillac, however any coach builder plates are gone. Not sure but I think the windshield is stock caddy.

I talked to the owner and she's interested in finding the glass, unless it becomes cost prohibitive. Also, is there anyway to figure out the coach builder from the VIN?

That really sucks. I know how hard finding real glass can be.

Is the car driven a lot, or it just mostly for display?

Windshield is '71-'76 commercial chassis. Going to cost about $550 new/shipped. Other glass will run $150-200/ea plus shipping. Luckily, damage was contained to just glass.

'74 Miller Meteor Landau Traditional btw.

Luckily, they didn't damage the body.

One thing you might want to consider then, (since it doesn't get driven that much), is just replacing the broken glass with polycarbonate (most people know it as Lexan). Race cars use it, because it's light, cheap and doesn't shatter. It's less expensive than real glass and easy to do yourself, and then if they try to break them again, they won't be able to. If it's something that got driven daily, I'd say go for real glass.

                    Just a thought.

I'm still running 3 poly windows in my car. They have been in there for about 15 years now, and still nobody can tell the difference, lol.
