  • Cadillac hearse rim size question

Ok, so I have a 1961 that I have been paying off FOREVER coming into town today and it is on four flat tires. Someone offered me a set of wheels and tires to put it on for the time being (pretty much to roll it off the trailer avoid code enforcement) but they are 14 inch rims. Will these work? I won't be driving, but I do need it to at least roll!

    Advice? Thanks -Zachary

The 70's coaches had 5 on 5. I don't know about earlier ones but i would say they would be 5 on 5 also.

I don't think 14's will work. I tried to put a set of 15" Cragers on and they fit fine, but the front wouldn't spin. The calipers were hitting the static weights and locking the wheel in place. So I don't think a 14" will even fit over the rotor. But I really don't know.

A 61 will have front drum brakes and some of the problems you mayinto are the rim center will not fit fit over the spindle hub, the rim will not go over the drum itself, and with 14 in. rims it will sit so low it will be a bitch to get off the trailer when it high centers.

                        My 70 is 5 on 5.
I think R R is right about the center bore, but if the bolt pattern is correct, maybe they will. A 14" rim is a little small, you will need to get a tire with a tall sidewall and high load rating.
                        Lets see some pics!

Never owned a 60's caddy but all of my 60's cars could fit 14" wheels on them except the marlin which had huge ass front disk brakes on it. My chevy's were 5 by 4 3/4 and fords were 5 by 4 1/2. If that helps any.

This info doesn't really help the original poster but thought I'd post it here for future readers.

According to this web page the 5 x 5" for the Cadillac Fleetwood was from '35 - '59 and from '68 - '85.

Also here's a way to measure a 5 bolt pattern. You measure from the center of one to the back outer edge of the other.
