  • update on my '53

Ug - just wanted to vent. I have my '53 in at a rod and custom shop. So far these guys have been doing great and the only thorn in my side is the reports they're giving me on the crappy job one of the other shops had done. It just makes me so ticked off!

rust bubbles under my paint (had it stripped and repainted, shop is probably gone)

gas tank was supposed to be checked, but it's full of rust and has to be specially built.

the brake lines are full of rust! (goddamn, this one really pisses me off) No fluid in the brakes so they have to be redone. The shop that had done this has moved and is under new management - so fuck me.

Just really gets to me - on top of my A/C having to be completely replaced. Someone just shoot me.

Sorry to hear about what a crappy job the other place had done. Sadly, it doesn't surpise me tho. Heh, I wonder if I've ever taken my car to that same shop. Hopefully now your '53 will be fixed the right way, even if it might cost a pretty penny...

Oh I have no qualms posting the shop that had done the shitty work:

Car Classics Restoration - now known as Classic Car Restoration
      1975 Stirling Rd
      Dania, FL 33004

This shop has changed management and nearly none of the original guys work there. I got feedback from Ken when he was doing a show that these guys are really bad at their new shop.

That's why I prefer to do all the work on Elvira myself. Then if it is messed up I can only blame myself....lol

Thought for a minute there I was reading my own rant about the shops I just got done using trying to get mine back on the road. Sorry for the shit luck. Hopefully though this shop you're doing now is taking care of you car the right way.

Went to a muffler shop once to get a new exhaust system put on my car(not a hearse, but relevant). Was doing an oil change on it, and came to find out that I could not get the oil filter off, because the exhaust was in the way. Went back to the shop, and said I needed the exhaust rerouted. I spent $200.00(1985) on the exhaust to begin with, and they told me it would cost another $120.00 to reroute it. You can't trust shops you don't know anymore....
