  • Help me identify these rims

I've been looking for an old hot rod style rim for my '69 coach and ran across this pic of a '65 Superior online. Any idea who makes these or similar rims in a 17" or 18" with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern?

    Thanks in advance.

They look very similar to the American Racing Torque Thrust rims.

Originally I was looking at the American Racing Torque Thrust rims, but was told locally that they weren't available in a 17" or 18" with a 5 on 5 lug pattern.

Thanks for the link. Strange thing though AR's site lists the '69 Fleetwood as needing a 5 X 127 ?!?

They look very similar to the Boyd Coddington "Junk Yard Dog" wheels which are available up to 20" in the 5x5 pattern.

              Anyone know for sure if my '69 is a 5 x 5 or a 5 x 127 lug pattern?

Theres enough of a difference between the two sizes to use the measuring tape method to check your bolt circle. If your tape reads 5" than you got 5x127mm if it reads 5 1/2 than well ya got 5x 5 1/2 . I tried lookin up on a couple of different wheel places and they don't go back to '69 to get the bolt pattern.

Ok i just posted a reply but it's not showing so i'll try again. Your '69 should be 5 on 5" from what i've read on the Cadillac & LaSalle website. To my knowledge ALL the older GM vehicles used the 5 on 5" pattern. My '51 Caddy hearse is 5 on 5" and every other full bodied GM car i've ever owned.
On a seperate note ALL of us need to buy one of these... it's a "bolt circle template" and several companies sell them at car shows. Here's a pic of the one I bought from Heidt's hot rod shop inc. it has all bolt circles from 4 1/2" to 5 1/2" bolt circle. I have another one made of heavy orange plastic but this one is easier to see in a photo. Hope this helps...

Oooohhh, Yip, the bolt circle template is a GREAT thing to have! I keep a standard and a metric on a nail behind the counter 'cause it's always bugged me so bad to see somebody whip out a tape measure and try to go between a couple bolts and give me that measurement to try & find a wheel.

Save your money and ask a local recycler or two first though -- we have a couple yards around here (I'm in Northeast Oklahoma) who have fixed 'em up die-cut from cardstock with their name printed on 'em as an advertising deal just like that hotrod shop did. Someone near you might have 'em like that too!

Here a link to print your own template, http://www.easternmarine.com/em_stor...lt_circle.html. I know it won't be the best, but it will work for a quick fix.
