Well guys & gals, the 1951 Superior is SOLD. She's been paid for now & will be headed to her new home soon. Watch for it in your travels on the interstates, it'll be hauled cross-country from here in frigid Ohio to sunny California and crated up to go on a boat ride... to AUSTRALIA to meet her new owner! Now begins the quest of finding another hearse... hmmmm... i'm looking around as we speak. Will post some pics when she's loaded for the beginning of her global journey.

Sold my '58 Brookwood wagon to a guy from Queensland several years ago at the Tulsa swapmeet. He crammed that entire car fulla' stuff to where he barely had enough room to drive it.
Had a '51 Nash wagon that was more or less a parts car, it was advertised nationally, and most calls just wanted parts off of it. One night I get a call from Canada asking about it...... and after dealing with all those nimrods, I tell the guy, "If you come get it, I'll give it to you." You can guess what happened next, two weeks later I get a call from Jerry in Ontario....."We'll be in Tulsa this Friday"..... It was cool visitin' with him, but I had turn away from him when his buddy bashed his head against the headache rack of the truck and he said "Watch your head there, eh?"

Well I was nervous as hell when the guy approached me because I get like 3 e-mails a day from the Nigerians trying their same old scam "Greetings to you and your family. I am very interested in your item... blah blah" so they can mail a rubber check for $2500 OVER the price of "my item" (I love that... interested but can't even call it a HEARSE). They want you to cash the check the DAY OF PICK UP ONLY & you pay their driver the overpayment money. Yeah... I was just born yesterday! Anyway this guy is great to deal with, invited me to his website too... been importing classic cars for Austrailian collectors for 20 years. I'm already paid & he's sending a truck soon for the '51. I can't believe it's leaving my shop... but the shop is more crowded as of tonight anyway... wanna see why? LOL

I met a guy a few years ago at Monster Bash through Mike D and he is from Australia, him and a few friends come over every year and buy 2-3 40ft containers and cram them full of cars and car parts. The year I met them they bought 175K worth of cars and parts. They have cars down there but not the cool old ones like here.

That's true. Still kind of odd they are doing it all "all of a sudden" like. Almost like they are stockpiling all our cars in preperation for something the way we stockpile weapons.........

I hate seeing all the vintage iron going overseas. The dollar is getting so weak our stuff is cheap. I lost a few cars I was bidding on to overseas buyers. One guy from England bought a 60 Buick Flxible Premier Combo. He paid nearly twice what it was worth then a few grand to ship it. He had about 10 grand in a car he needs to restore. An American car is a big deal over there and buying a 59 hightop to them feels about the same as us buying a 71 pinto so you can't blame them. But our gas will always be cheaper so we can drive them.

The old Superior is loaded & on it's way towards California. The driver said he'll be making stops along the way and plans to spend the weekend in Phoenix, Arizona before heading on into Cali next monday. Tell you what, it was interesting to drive it onto the carrier with no brakes! Hope her new owner loves her as much as I did...
