  • What is going on over there?

Anyone been to the PCS board lately? There is a big message at the top of every page now.

    Hello,

I’d like to take a moment to welcome you all to the newly revamped “Professionalcar.org” website and message system. Due to a variety of situations outside of the scope of the message board and website we have chosen to rebrand the website and forums and discontinue the direct promotion of this site as being the official web presence of the Professional Car Society (PCS). As many of you know, this website and message board have been independently operated and managed since it was initially set up. We have been financially supported over the years by individuals, as well as generous donations from a portion of our site membership. This site, has never been owned by, run by, or financially supported by the PCS. That is not changing. In fact, not a lot is actually changing here on the site. We have a new look for the webpage, a new graphic at the top of this page, and some of the wording and phrases are a little different throughout the site. The address you use to get to the site is the same. The community you enjoy here online is the same. And all of the friends you have made here are the same as well. At this time, we are not reducing any services, and the PCS club discussion areas will remain as they were before the change. We are hoping that this change will allow us to move forward and grow the site in a more positive manner. We have plenty of new ideas that we are itching to implement to make your time here on the site more relevant, more useful, and more fun. We feel that this is going to be a positive change for the site, and we hope to be able to offer you a more compelling and useful online experience here at Professionalcar.org.

Wonder if the site is having trouble with the Club or vise versa? That has always been one of my gripes with that site, They said the represent the PCS but only a few people make the decisions on the boards. The people in the PCS have been nothing but great to me anytime I have met up with any of them. But the board seems to have a whole different agenda than the club. From what it looks like now we have a new hearse club, the Professionalcar.org club. Of which you have to pay to use thier services and advice, heck you have to pay just to share your advise with them too.

If the PCS is trying to distance itself from the Professionalcar.org board, maybe we should offer the PCS a forum on this site. At least the good people of the PCS would have a place to go and not have to worry about the rules of the Professionalcar.org forums.

I have no relationship with anybody over there in a position to make such decisions - But I'd have no problem setting them up a forum on here and give their moderators access to moderate their own forums, of course for free. I highly doubt they'd take us up on it, but if you want to extend the olive branch on behalf of the NHAA go for it.

Either way if they accept or don't accept we come out smelling like roses.

Agreed. And as an added bonus, you wouldn't come across like Tyrell Owens placing a higher importance on self over team - like the board there is now.

Yes, the site is run stupidly.

Yes I have friends there, but the site is just too stupid.

It's money money money. All they need to to have one big open forum, and the money will come.

I used to have a real problem with the PCS but now it doesn't phase me at all - if they want come on over, let'm come and see that we aren't so bad - just a little 'off'.

If I knew who to talk to, I would. Alot of the people on thier forums tend to follow the moderators so most of them would stay there. But maybe some of the others would come over and check out how a forum should be run, for the people. And actually they would have a better chance to help save these cars, which is what they are all about, by being here and being able to offer advise and suggestions when we have questions. It would help the hobby, as a whole, to have them on the same forum. Alot of the members are old school and don't use the computer or the forum anyway. But being FD and Ex-EMTS, they still may have a problem with having a forum on a Dead-Ends site. Here is an idea, make a PCS forum on here. Just make one and leave it up and open. "If you build it, they will come." Let's try that idea and see if any of the PCS come and take advantage of our hospitality. Then if word gets out, someone from the PCS may contact us and ask about it or ask to take it down. Either way we still did our part to bridge the gap in our commiunity.

I thought about joining the PCS just to get into the SUPERSECRET classifieds section, but now it is free! And in hindsight, might not have been worth the fees. Still thinking about joining though, so we can resurrect the Texas chapter...

Wow, looks like they are going back to the way it used to be, pre pay-to-play. Which is better than it was, but still run by the moderators.

With Zach as a moderator there? He would LOVE that!!!

Must be logged into professionalcar.org to see the changes as I don't.

Regardless, I think it is the right thing to do. I know there is more than a few members here who can make use of it.

Why? You are not promoting, defacing or otherwise insulting the PCS, you have just given them a spot to come to if they so choose.

Now the question is how do you let people know?
