  • 1963 MM vs S&S roof line

    Hey guys,

I am having a bit of a roof issue and I need a little help with pictures. I am trying to find pictures that give a good clear definition of a 1963 MM roof line to see the angles.

More specifically, I have a 1963 S&S that has a bad roof and the body guy who is working on it has suggested replacing the part of the roof that is rusted with the roof from a 63 MM which he has. I really like the style of the S&S and the shape, so I am a little hesitant because from what I have been able to determine the MM roof lines are more boxy and not as aesthetically pleasing. He said that what he would do is cut the MM off right below the body line and when he patches it onto my car he'll finish it in such a way that once the vinyl roof is on the car you will not be able to tell that it is a MM roof line. I made him say it out loud that my S&S will NOT look like it has a MM roof and I plan on writing it into the contract before I sign it.

So, if you guys have any good pictures of a MM roof line that shows the angles that would be fantastic; or if you might have a little insight into this I would appreciate all opinions. I am going to call tomorrow and ask for pictures of what specifically he has to replace so that I can see them and I'll try to get them up here as well.

Time is of the essence because I want to know whether I should tell him to proceed or not. Thanks in advance for any insight you guys might be able to provide.

    Nick

More info on how bad the roof is?

I have a '63 also, and the roof is crunchy but solid.
