  • Barrett-Jackson Kennedy ambulance story

Thought this was interesting as I was looking forward to the sale.

This Saturday's auction of the ambulance that carried President John F. Kennedy's body has garnered worldwide attention. The only problem? It's a near-perfect fake. Here's how a group of historians discovered the truth about what happened to the real ambulance.

At this moment Barrett-Jackson is still planning on running the auction. They are holding a special press conference today to discuss all the latest developments.

I hear the new price is 8,000 OBO

Also damn, the PCS actually does something useful and gets good press for it *shakes fist*

Wonder who the do-gooder was who took it upon himself to order the destruction of the original when it was still intact after 20 plus years. Great call asshole!

What a cool looking car either way.

Also, what a nicely detailed research though. I wonder if anybody has ever proven the pedigree of a certain '58 M-M that was used for Ty Cobb?

Kennedys wife called for the car to be crushed.

Yes, they are still auctioning it tonight at 8pm. The press conference ended up being all hype & an attempt to discredit any & all information to the contrary of this ambulance being anything but "the real deal"... but when you review everything that's come into light recently there's no way anyone can prove it's "the one". Barrett-Jackson ended up saying all anyone can do is review all the information & make up their own mind before bidding.

Shame on B-J for continuing to auction that car off.

Furthers the conspiracy in a direction overlooked:

PCSers @ auction. Like always, they're trying to get something for nothing...

Hard to believe anybody with big money to throw around would stick their neck out to buy it with all the questions around it. It's either real and worth some big cake or just a nice replica that doesn't mean anything really. There's no in between.

Looks like it was sold privately again before it left the auction lot.....
