there is a 1952 pontiac barnette hearse for sale in my area , it is all there of coarse is not a turn the key and drive kind of car but is totally restorable but how rare are these cars? I know all Hearses from this era are rare but how rare?

Not many Barnettes exist. That being said, landaus are more rare than limo styles. If it is a landau and not a combination, you may be able to count on one hand how many '50-'54 survive.
This all original survivor '50 was a steal in Southern Mexico around 3 years back. The price was somewhere between $1200-1500. With transport costs to the US approaching another $2k, there were no US takers. Not known what became of it.
'52 ambulance was $3500 in TX more than 2 years ago and the owner wasn't budging one dime. I thought it was overpriced by a grand. It ended up selling for full asking price.

There was also a '54 Barnette landau hearse within the last couple weeks posted here on CL in Honolulu. Incredible buy.
