New guy with '63 Superior landau

Hey guys, been lurking for a while - I recently bought a '63 Superior Crown Sovereign Landau endloader from a top guy in Vegas. Had the car shipped to New Zealand, and I'm currently getting the car complied for NZ roads (an expensive undertaking!).
The car was apparently in service in Riverside, CA with a company called Acheson & Graham - I've sent them an email enquiring about its history.
Looking forward to asking you guys some questions about the car as they arise.
Actually, my first question - I've attached the Superior tag on the firewall - it reads: MODEL NO. 604... BODY No. 101... SILL NO. 7002. Any idea how many of these were produced?

Beautiful coach! Looks like a straight, complete original example. Nice score. Welcome from one Crown owner to another, lurker.

Can grab Superior production data later if no one gets to it sooner. Might you know Ian Marr, who purchased a '60 Crown out of Colorado and shipped to NZ? He's in Gisborne and has been restoring his Superior over the last year. It's coming along nicely. Ian is on this forum as well but user name is evading at moment.

i like the looks of the back of the superior way better then my mm, it has alot better style to accent them wings. wonder if i can cut the back off mine and alter it to more of that sloped look.

101 - I believe that was the 101st car built in that year?
And no one has been able to tell me what the "sill no." means

Thanks for the responses guys, I'm so happy with the car - stoked that it's in such good 'rough' condition.
I love the way the car looks, so I'll just be doing preservative things to it for a while, plus I need to drive the damn thing, not just have it sitting in the garage! I do have the rear door panels and other bits and pieces hanging around, waiting to be fixed up and attached.
I do indeed know Ian, Atti, thanks for the heads up - it was seeing his '60 MM which made me get the coachbuilt bug years and years ago. Can't wait to see his '60 Superior in the flesh.

I just uploaded a whole lot of photos of the car as the previous owner bought it in Bakersfield, CA. Apparently the car was originally burgundy/white, and was later given this gold/white combo. I'm a fan of both colour schemes, and I'm going to find it very hard to choose when the time comes to get it painted. I'm also a fan of the metallic blue/dark blue combo, and straight gloss black.
The car is still with my mechanic, been there for two months now! Nothing cosmetic being done, aside from all new flat side glass. It's had a lot of work done underneath, looks like new.
I narrowly missed out on some correct Superior coach emblems for the rear quarters on ebay a little while ago, man I was pissed. Also, I'd like to get hold of the missing trim items from the rear loading door - the large numberplate surround, and the 6 x small spear shaped things (no idea what they'd be called) that sit either side of the number plate.

Rear license plate is one year only and Superior specific. Took pyro about a year to find one.

That being said, I have since located a '63 Superior in a junkyard that still has this piece. It would need plating.



The vertical trim on either side of it only came on a '63 Crown. The coach pyro got his license surround from still had them. Will check my notes for additional parts '63 Crowns.

Thanks Atti, I'm keen to get a hold of these parts if I can - if you have any contact details that you could pass along, or if anyone is able to pull the parts and ship them to me, (with finders fee on top of cost) I would be most appreciative! It's hard living thousands of miles away from the US! I'm not in a real hurry to get them.
I've got a friend who will be visiting various junkyards around Northern California, Vegas and possibly Arizona in June, does anyone know of '63 Superior parts cars in those areas?
