My 56' Hearse/Ambulance!!!

I thought I'd share some of my photos of my 1956 Cadillac Hearse/Ambulance.










Obviously she needs a bit of work.........so, I've come to this community to see if anyone could he me find the following...............

R/L side hearse doors, or door skins..........."Miller" Fender Emblems..............R?L rear bumper ends..............R/Rear fender Chrome trim..................R/L Side mirrors.................

I would love any help/tips/suggestions anyone might have.

If I am correct, guys can correct me if I'm wrong, but the doors off a standard 4door caddy many times can be used to skin/repair areas of your new ride. The bumper ends are probably cast aluminum and different from standard caddy ones. The fact they are there and in tact are great, have them fixed or cleaned up and rechromed.
$1400 is a steal for that ride in that condition! Even if it doesnt run!!
Paid twice that for this one and its getting a 500 put it in due to the cracked cylinder.................!

Well,....I'm new to the Cadillac Ambulance/Hearse thing, but not new to the classic car thing.
I used to own a 1958 Plymouth Fury.....you know,.....like "Christine".....only not Red.
That was a fun car to drive!
Cost me $7500
But she was in excellent shape, and drivable.........probably paid too much for her, but considering what they're worth now.......shoulda kept her! F!!

Anyhooo......my 56' Hearse should be just as nice when I'm done.........fortunately I have a friend who's an excellent body man,..and says that repairing......refabricating the door panels and rear quarter shouldn't be a big issue...........like you..he's impressed in how good a shape its in for its age.

I don't think the block is cracked.........there's a service tag on the inside windshield dating back to 73'..........but in the next week or so my friend and I are gonna find out if she turns over/if the block is cracked.

Other than that.......new wheels, new upholstery and she's good to go!!!

my dad owns a 1958 M-M identical to that one. we are missing the beacon on top. do you happen to know the model # for that one?

This car is a S&S, beacon may be the same, i will have to go out and look at the model number, all i saw was a serial number ( i think) oddly enough.....The beacon doesnt fit my hearse profile for this ride and I just put the beacon on EBAY. Hate to but need the funds too. Its cool that the headlight bulb thats in behind the fred lens moves up and down......really cool.

as for the "Christine" its the one car I want badly but havent found yet! Dammit!!

Also, mine started and ran, guy said it smoked some which is not unusual, but went to change the oil and antifreeze poured out. Figured out which side and pulled the head off, cylinder wall was pitted, flaking and had a crack. Seems water had sat in there on a numerous set of occasions. Hope you have better luck on yours!

i realized it was an S&S after i posted. cool car. if i would have known sooner i would try to buy the beacon from you.......i like it. basically same car, just different trim on the side. ours carried TY COBB to his grave in 1961 in Royston, GA. the light and siren were removed before we located the car. our motor was locked up as well from water in the heads over 30 years. it sat behind the funeral home from 1973 til about 2003 or 2004.

No telling what happens to all those lights and sirens, this one still has the siren too! Probably the same ones used on yours both are Federal. Hate selling parts but have to fund the engine swap. Nothing is cheap anymore!
Pretty cool on the Ty Cobb thing!

i understand what you mean on the $ situation. it's been about 2 years since we pulled the 365 out and installed a 425 out of a 1977 hearse for now.
