  • My New Ghostbusters Car

O.K. so technically its not a pro-car, but with the amount of work my 78 M+M needs, coupled with the fact that I HATE the idea of "Ecto-fying" a perfectly good funeral car I decided to do something rash.

See Im the head of a "Frenchise" of Ghostbusters International. Our whole deal is we have the flightsuits, packs, etc. and do events to raise money for vaious charities. After being without a franchise car for a while and getting the itch to trade in my mustang I decided to go modern.

So here's my new Ecto (remember it is but a work in progress)

And yeah I know strobes on either end would look better than the bubblegum machine, but I had it left over from the last ghostbusters car I did so I figured what the hell.

The great guys at Macon Communications who did the light bar install for me gave me a cd with a bunch of pics of their work on it. The way the Magnum's interior is designed, to get under the headliner, you essentially have to gut the interior.

Here's the car when they started

    Gutting it out

    The guys working

Once they got done the interior still looked perfect and completely stock. They put the control box for the lights and siren in the center console, here's a shot with the console open.

All that work and they only charged me $85.00 for the installation! They do the sheriff and police cars for most of the local cities/counties and ambulances, fire trucks etc. They said they were just glad to be working on something different!

They also signed a Ouji Board and placed it in the back of the car, I thought that was pretty cool and added a "Pimp my Ride" touch lol.

I'm still undecided as far as a roof rack or rear light. At the moment I'm leaning towards leaving it as is, it just looks more smooth and less cluttered. But now, knowing how much work goes into getting to the bare metal roof, if I DO go with a rack and rear light, I'll get the guys to bolt them down at the same time so there's no more interior removal than necessary.

So in all liklyhood this is the car I'll be in at next year's MonsterBash!

Better get used to doing the speed limit. Every car you come up behind will think you are a cop and suddenly slow down to the speed limit, and nothing makes me more mad than someone poking along at the speed limit.

C'mon, damn it, that Speed Limit sign was just a suggestion.....

I think that was a smart idea making the Magnum a Ghostbusters car. Maybe it's not a hearse, but it sill seems like it works well. Looks good so far. I'm definately interested in seeing it at next years monster bash.

I got them made at the graphic shop here in town that does the logos for the city police cars. Only cost $54.00 for all 4.

and now that you mention it Kevin, those fins aren't bad

We've gotten that here in Denver a lot...every once in a while someone comes along with some sort of wacky car and figures that since it's wacky it needs to be parked with the hearses. I mean, cool, you're doing your own thing and that's great, but don't park a totally random car that has nothing to do with hearses in a line of them.

We do make an exception for Kevin and his Subaru Ecto 1K for 3 reasons - 1. Kevin is a cool guy, 2. The crowds go nuts for him and he totally plays it up, and 3. He brings hot chicks in Ghostbusters uniforms. As far as I'm concerned, if you're bringing hot chicks you could bring a moonshine drum turned on the side with wagon wheels and a landau bar made of tinfoil and we'd let it in. Double standard I know, but hey...

Hey Zach I too know Kevin (well from online anyway) he IS a cool guy.

Hopefully since I've been a member forever and have owned 5 hearses the Dead Ends crew will make a similar exception for me at this years Monsterbash....but then they let me park my mustang with them last year....so I guess I answered my own question! lol

Can't promise the hot GB girls....but Im working on it.

                              Oh also...

                              I'm rollin' on 22's nigga!!!!!!!
