  • New "old school" hearses!

Here's a coach builder in Minnesota called Prinzing Motor Coach. They offer 2 different hearse setups. I'm partial to the "wood carved" look but both styles are very sharp! Looks like they use the Cadillac Northstar engine. I wonder if this is the former "Gazelle" company from the styling of the nose. They actually have a whole line of different cars including a wedding car. Here's a link to their website: http://www.prinzingmc.com/hearse.php

Kinda reminds me of the Excalibur. A newer car that looks older. But these are much cooler than the Excalibur! They are absolutely beautiful! I like all the cars they have, especially the Wedding Limos. I wonder which funeral homes (besides Redwood Valley) are using these coaches.

Maybe Excaliber was the company i'm thinking of... thanks for your comment Vampirate Maiden! There was a guy kinda local to me back in the 1990's who had a car very similar to these (except it wasn't a coach) who showed his at local shows in Ohio & claimed it to be a $300,000 elite car, but I could tell it was all fiberglass. Actually Gazelle made kit cars for Volkswagon & Pinto drivelines if memory serves correct... i'm 39 but the 1990's are kinda fuzzy LOL

I don't know a whole lot about Excalibur, except that there weren't a whole lot of them made. Did the car you see back them look similar to this?

Yes it looked very similar to your example pic only it was a hard top model. I think it had the exhaust pipes through the hood & fenders too. Looks like Excaliber used a morphed Mercedes grill and these Prinzing cars use a packard styled grill, yet the huge fenders are practically indenical. Hmmmm Excaliber is (or was) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but looks as if they ended production in 1986 but are trying to ressurect the company... interesting!

Here is an excalibur that i chased down(wasn't hard...they are slow, lol) and I took some night pics of. They are generally based off of the Fox-body Mercury Cougar and a few were made from Fox mustangs.

A few years ago one of the guys from Dead Ends had posted some pics of a Excalibur Hearse that was in Service in/near his town. If I find the pic I'll re post it.

That sounds sweet! Do find the pic, please. Go find the funeral home and take the pic yourself if you have to!
