  • '37 Buick - warning: may cause discomfort

So recently I caught wind of 2 sister coaches owned by the same guy. Both are '37-'38 carved Buicks. One was being turned into a limo. Windows were cut in. The removed gothic side panels were hanging in the garage. The friend that told me about this saw them early last year. He thought that the owner may sell - at least a portion, if not all. I asked him to return and get some details as time permitted - along with pictures to ID, natch.

The 'limo conversion' had not progressed one bit. Sickening to see that this was a pretty decent original paint carved coach to begin with. Given the size of the new windows, this must have started out as an unusual '37 Flxible Buick service car. (Limo style body that had the rear compartment window openings filled with carved panels.) Note "new" lack of side and rear doors. (Okay, even if this didn't have a driver's side rear door the back door was still welded and filled.) Look at how crudely the body was damaged to cut windows.

The side panels that my friend saw previously and the second coach were not there. Owner stated that his brother had taken them. (Yeah for the brother with more common sense!) Will still follow up on the second coach and those panels, given time.

Not everything I turn up is a winner unfortunately. Is this one even worth saving..? With the exception of the carved panels, the rest of the body parts were there.
Working...
