    1949 Cadillac Miller combo.
It needs some body work, some major interior work, and engine and transmission.

it's a catastrophe hearse that's for putting the unlucky chumps that don't fit in the back.

      sweet find David.

The luggage rack was just sitting on it, I was worried that someone might have attached it.

Yeah I was kinda looking at the same car http://atlanta.craigslist.org/cto/1130278938.html

It just wasnt what I thought I was looking for. I think im holding out for something in the 1930's. Grats on the find.

LMS that is a really nice find! Doesn't look terribly ate up with rust either & looks straight. The passenger door has that dent & the chrome is buckled... but you lucked out big-time because that piece of chrome is a regular Caddy production piece, not hearse specific! The lines of these are so sharp, basic but rounded off everywhere. Love the grill, the small Caddy hubcaps, & split windshield. If you end up needing any body stuff such as door strikers (usually at least one for the huge suicide doors is broken @ the bottom, making the door not line up) or door trim I bought several pieces from a guy up in Conneticut that has access to a Cadillac stash of cars. No hearses there, but several 4 doors. He's slow pulling parts... but cheap. Did ya luck out & have both fender skirts intact too? Man that coach is sweet you're a lucky man!!! Is the 331 locked up or junk? Dude those are a sweet running & sounding engine & i'm assuming it has the LaSalle 3 speed on-the-tree. If you mess with the original driveline at all BE GENTILE with the shifter, the entire shifting mechanism is cast aluminum & VERY brittle, & those columns are very hard to find. I learned it the hard way trying to limber up the linkage the fuckin' column shift broke @ the base! Update with pix PLEASE as you get her on the way to being road-worthy, I just love it

The engine was junk, going to drop a 472 in most likely and an automatic trans. If anyone local has a 472 and tranny to go with it they would like to part with send me a message.
It did come with both fender skirts. Three pieces of glass are cracked, but they are all flat so should be easy to replace.
They guy we bought it from had already parted out 2 other 49 hearses, that is where the red front clip came from in the pics I posted in my new album. The guy has a crap load of parts for 49 Caddies so if I am missing anything he said to call him.

nice classis caddy, seems there are a lot of combo's out there when it comes to caddy's in the late 40s early 50s. Wide Whites are awesome. I have ambulance shades for a '50 miller if you're interested, "vanishing shade" if it doesn't have any. Have fun fixing her up.

Yes, I can see why you might think that it had a luggage rack attached.

It looks pretty solid, from what I can see, and those tires stand out. Does it run? Someone just needs to give it some love and get it out of the weather.

Keep the luggage rack, or have Ms Metal build you a new one and turn it into a family truckster.

I bet you and Denise were happy to bring that one home. One day you are definately going to have to let me see it. Have you two came up with a name for this coach?
