  • My latest purchase...

I just thought I'd share with everyone my latest addition to the fleet that I purchased off of Kijiji... It's a 1972 Cadillac Superior Limo Style Hearse with a 472 in it...

Thanks Hearse_Guy & hotrodwayne, I appreciate the compliments... Rest assured that the running boards as well as the tire carrier will be removed... I also like the look of the roof tiara & the limo style...

Any idea what this model may be...? See the rear inside door crest below, is the crown significant or is it just part of the Superior logo...?

Actually the tiara gave it away, what you have is a 1972 Superior Crown Sovereign. I looked up your coach in my "Superior, the complete history" book for specific model numbers. Check your coachbuilder tag...
Model D-604 end loading funeral coach, sold for $13,877
Model D-601 funeral coach with 3-way manual casket table, sold for $15,012
Model D-602 funeral coach with electric table, sold for $15,579
            Model D-605 combination hearse/ambulance, sold for 14,252

Total sales in 1972 (all models landau & limo style) Superior built 88 three-ways, 534 end-loaders, and 175 combinations. no way to trace it further down to each specific model.

Wow, That is awesome hotrodwayne, thanks so much for the info... I'll see about checking out the coachbuilder tag tonight & post what I find... So is that crown on the logo an identifier to the crown series, or is it just part of the Superior logo...?

Well, no luck with the coach-builder tag, couldn't get the hood open (I assume that's where the tag is)... I'll try again tomorrow night...

Yeah Superior's standard logo was the "SC" script, it looked like this:

The crown on top of your logo is to further identify the "Crown" series.

No problem man. I have several of Tom McPherson's books on-hand so it's kinda fun to help out you guys when specific models need looked up! As for your coachbuilder tag, I think yours will be under the hood on one of the fenderwells. Someone scarfed the one off my '66 Superior ambulance years ago. So is yours a hearse/ambulance combo (jump seats that fold up in the back) or a limo-style hearse? That'll answer your model question before you find the build tag.

There are no jump seats, someone put buckets up front & theres a 6-way bench seat just sitting in the back... I gotta get that hood open...

Well I got the hood open, but no luck in finding the coachbuilder tag, I'll keep looking though... I did find a Superior Paint sticker that was covered with overspray, so I did a rub with pencil lead & paper & pulled the following:79-7515 is from the top line & Black #19 A-946 is from the third line... I'll look for more numbers & I'll take some more pictures to try & nail down exactly which model this is...
