Still looking for parts to make into random bits of art. I'm taking this next week off from work to work on a few things, including putting Morticia back together and making the trophies. So if you've got'm, send them my way.

You could also get some cheap ass urns, and put trophie plaques on them.

As a bonus fill them with beer or weed or something.

in terms of trophies, i'm thinking "best hearse," "best bike," and "best hot rod." but let me check in with our harley dealer guy to see if he has any idea how much participation we're going to get from the local clubs

I have more question than answers. These are not questions just for Ryan.

How many trophies are you going to make or have parts to make?
Who will be judging for trophies?
What trophies do they have at hearsecon?
If Chris is planning on making a lot of different trophies, why not have a lot of categories?

I would love to win a custom made trophy. My hearse is stock and will stay that way, most people (general public) wouldn't vote for a stock hearse over one that is customized.

I know this is the first year, but it would still be nice to have more hearse related trophies. I this is going to be a hearse meet, we should have more trophies for us. I know there will be at least one ambulance, hopefully more.

              Those are not bad suggestions.

In the planning committee, we thought it might be good to keep it simple, and just do three trophies, one for each class. These would be fan choice awards, meaning people attending the show would vote. We have done this at a couple other shows we've run.

Some of us also think that having too many trophies can be a pitfall. We've all been to shows where they have like 30 cars and give out like 25 trophies or plaques. at that point, it's like award socialism.

Then we also have had the other problem, where you prepare a bunch of different trophies, but attendance sucks so bad that there's really no one to give them to. So you have a trophy for like "best pre-68 GM," but no pre-68 GM shows up *cough* rockabilly luau *cough.* So then you have this BEST PRE 68 GM June 2011 trophy that was essentially a waste of money, and is not collecting dust.

That's one reason the committee wanted to limit trophies. If we do end up making extras, then we should make them very general so we aren't stuck with useless trophies.

ANYWAY, it's about time for another conference call to discuss this very issue. So far we are up to 32 RSVPs on the facebook invite. If we want to re-evaluate awards and trophies, we certainly can. I just need to get a consensus of a date/time for a conference call.

I could just not label all of them and letter the questionable ones when we get there. I was going to bring my pinstriping stuff anyways.

Huge thanks to Atti for the huge box of gears and bearings to use towards trophies. I'm going to hunt down a few brake rotors as bases and I'll be ready to get creating.

if you need like old tools to use in any of the trophies....check pawn shops....most of the time the wrenches and stuff are a buck or two.

Used is good - the problem is that you're in New Jersey and I'm in Georgia. =)

A friend of mine runs a Meineke, so I'm going to go hit him up about some used shit.
