  • What Dead Ends is and what it isn't.

So I've mentioned in a few other posts that some things happened in this club that I didn't like at all and really gave me a bad feeling towards it in general. Realizing that my angst was really pointed towards a few things, and it wasn't the fault of the club itself I decided to take a different look with a more objective eye.

We are not a goth club.
There are some things that are closer to goth, but not really that strong of a goth element within our group. It may just be that the heat in Jawja is too much for leather pants or lots of vinyl. It works for some, just not us.

We have generally just let anybody in. This is my own damned fault, when we started it was 'hey, how many hearses can we get!?' with no regard to quality. We generally did OK because the core members tended to run off those that we didn't like and the club stayed pretty true to it's roots. Sometimes just being dicks isn't enough and you have to put actual rules around who you let into the club. Not like we are talking 'hearse club elite' or whatever faggy shit wossname tried to do, but it's a family deal - and as a family we need to decide who we let in.

We are NOT a family club. We are a club that is family, but we are not a family club. What we say is not usually good for little kids to hear, if you bring your kids around don't expect us to act different. Granted, most of the kids that have ever been around us have had some 'interesting' parents to whom we could never out do in that regard. I personally don't really like kids and I know a few other core members don't either - so if you do bring your kid around, make sure they aren't annoying brats.

We like to have fun. This is pretty much a given, but it's worth mentioning anyways. We aren't all serious mopy bastards standing around with black metal face paint on, holding an axe and running through the woods reciting ancient chants to some Norse gods (while yes I do listen to a pretty good bit of Norwegian black metal, I cannot possibly take them seriously with all the running through the woods with the axe). We get together, hang out, crack jokes, talk our shit, and just general 'I dont' give a shit' going on.

    So what is the future?

Look at the components of what we are and what we like in general as a rule. After some soul searching I figured it out. We really are more psychobilly type, traditional 'hot rod' group of folks and I'd like to work that angle.

I'd like to plan a get together at least once a month where we go do something or get creative with some beer and a big fire or whatever. We don't just do the Monster Bash or the Halloween parade - last year was a bit of a wash.

Stick around for more - just wanted to give everyone an idea of what was going on (translation - I've been working with my boss for the last 2 nights and I'm exhausted, so there is a bunch more I'm just too tired to type it all out)

Sounds a lot like a post I made on MySpace about TDS. I agree completely and might even take a few things from this post as well.

First I've been wanting to get this off my chest because it's been on my mind for a while. We are a HEARSE CLUB which is a group of people who like HEARSES and the things related to them (ambulances are OK too as long as they're combination cars). WE ARE NOT a paranormal group, goth group, horror group, general car club, or a band. While we respect to each of those things and our individual members who like and appreciate those things that isn't who we are. Please don't confuse any of them with us.

Soooo...are we going to have to start replacing the letter "c" with "k" from now on? Like as in "krazy kool kar klub"? Did I do that right?
Because it looks like krap to me.

This is not to say that people into goth or metal or whatever are not welcome, it's just a general theme thing.

The people who are not welcome are douche bags and losers who just bring the group down.

Talking about getting together more, I think due to recent developments it's time to have a get together, a party of some sorts, just to be complete dicks and finnish driving the nails into that coffin.

I understand that the psychobilly and traditional hot rod thing is more excepted and all. As long as it's not forgoten that we started as a hearse club.
Don't get me wrong, I'm tickled pink that something is starting to happen with the club, we have sat dorment for way to long. But personally I want to be part of a hearse club.

Actually he did explain that "elite" was not the proper word. At the time we had, let say ... 30 members, but only 5 would show up to any thing we did. Monster bash was the only time the other 25 people would come out of hiding. Those 5 were the ones he was aiming at as being the "hearse club elite"

Also it almost sounds like you are aiming for a similar thing as GothRods....

            from the GothRods site.....

"Ok, so what is a Goth Rod?

A Goth rod is any car that requires a Dark
            sense of style to own.

For example, I own a hearse, and although I don't consider myself GOTH, I can't
deny that I do have a pretty dark sense of style. I like black clothing, I collect
skulls and coffin shaped stuff, I love horror movies, I listen to odd music, and I
enjoy scaring the pants off of anyone lacking a sense of humor.

Does that make me GOTH? Well, that would depend on who you ask. But
according to a goth site I just looked up, the central Ideal that characterizes Goth
is an almost compulsive drive towards creativity and self-expression that seeks to
reach out and ensnare its audience using our current society's deeply rooted
fascination with all things dark and frightening.

Sounds like 90% of the people I hang around with, none of which would ever
admit to being GOTH. They would all be yelling, "Only punk kids with white faces
and bad eyeliner are GOTHS. I'm a hearse enthusiast."

            Are only Hearses, Goth Rods?
            "Hell No!!!!"

What about Elivira's T-bird, or all those Casket dragsters styled after the
Muster's "Dragula"? What about the Rat Rods covered in skulls, or the lowriders
with Demons painted on the hood. If it's dark and scary like the hearse from
"Phantasm", or tongue-in-cheek horror like the monster truck "Undertaker", then it
            qualifies as a Goth Rod."
            Just my thoughts
