  • i got me a new daily driver.

bought it off one of the guys i work with for $1500. had to do some creative financing to get the money but i got it and drove it home today.

    its a 79 chevy c10 long bed
    350 crate motor
    gm performance cam
    edelbrock intake
    600 cfm edelbrock carb
    billet hei ignition
    flo-tec long tube headers
    magna flow dual in/out muffler
    700r4 trans
    corvette valve body
    b&m shift kit
    floor shifter
    340 open rear end
    3" belltech drop spindles
    belltech lowered shock
4" shackle drop in the rear

    yes i said $1500 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

plan is to get a head light trim, flat black the whole truck, turn the tires into wide whites, put some bullet center caps, and a mexi blanket in the interior, get purplemyth(carlene) to do some stripes and call it done.

    now for the pics.

Rat gets ackward if you stray to far into any year, model, or make.

None of this looks right (IMHO):

sorry about the big Buick in the middle.

Well, everyone is entitled to have their car/truck look however they want, but if it looks dumb as hell it WILL be made fun of..lol

Almost all "hotrod/ratrod" clubs have a cut off year of 1964. Reason being is 1965 was the first year of the "muscle car" era. So you immediately start getting out of big bodied, lots of chrome, type cars into chevelles, novas, mustangs, ect, twocompletely different styles, each with their own sort of "unspoken rules" of personal intrest.

Alot of clubs also refuse to acknowlage the term "ratrod", cause in their eyes, a "ratrod" is a poorly put together pile of shit that is unsafe for anyone to stand next to much less attempt to drive anywhere. I for one agree with this, and the term is also used quite widely in the classic auto industry for people with rusted out piles of shit to try and screw people out of money cause it's a " potential ratrod project". I see the jerkoff's on CL all the time.

Eh. I painted my car flat black, for several reasons, and I painted my wheels red cause I like the look of it, well, that and the car only had 2 hub caps on it. But either way, it looks the wat I want it to for now. That's what matters.

well said. i could really give a flying donkey dick about what other people think. make fun of it if you want, like it, throw up in your mouth a little bit every time you see it i'm good with all of the above. If i don't like it i'll change it. hell it's only metal and paint.

that being said i do agree with billy that "ratrod" is a term that just means big pile of rust that just might have enough metal left to resemble a car. by "rat anything" i didn't mean paint it black and paint the rims red i meant make something people cringe everytime they see. whether it be in pure horror or oh my god why didn't i think of that. prime example the crx. that car made every single ricer that saw cringe in terror that something like that could be done to such a "cool" car.

Okay, I'll admit to liking the blue flamed Buick (minus the Buick mags) +points for loyalty to the brand, -points for the results...
