i have a 1968 superior coach pontiac ambulance i need to find info and siren please help

Pictures are very much needed to help you. If it's a short-wheelbase coach it's a "Consort" model. Many of us have books and literature, we can look up production numbers, models, etc. depending on what you want to know. For a siren the most popular was the Federal model #28 on these rigs... damn I just sold one! We'll be glad to help you in learning about your ambulance. Whereabouts are you located?

As a Fellow 68 SUperior Pontiac owner, I am going to need some pictures of that bad boy. Mine is a Royale Combo and has the Federal #28 siren. Yours may have a mount for a siren on the roof as many ambulances did. If this is so, you could use just about any siren. I would go with a period correct siren though. Oh, and a chrome one. Good Luck with the car.

A good point was just made. If you don't have the base, it will be a little more difficult to find than a siren. Far more sirens exist (same on fire trucks as well) than angled bases that were specific to curved ambulance roofs. Last #28 ambulance base I held in my hand sold for $50 and went to Canada.

Awesome ambulance! Yours is a model #207 1968 Superior Pontiac High Headroom ambulance. It was built in Kosciusko, Mississippi and they had a base price of $10,039 and went up from there depending on what options you wanted. Yours has standard tunnel lights instead of the optional dual bullet lights. Very nice find, congrats! Superior built 120 Pontiac ambulances in 1968, and that includes lowtop model #206. Yours is the hightop 48" headroom model, the only hightop model Superior offered in the Pontiacs.
Something to note, Superior titled their Cadillac series hightops Rescuer and Royale Rescuer but the Pontiacs didn't carry this name, they're only name is High Headroom. The roof is a 1 piece molded fiberglass roof which lowers the center of gravity and reduces weight. This information provided by Tom McPherson's "Superior - The Complete History" it's a fantastic book to have! Enjoy the ambulance and keep us updated with your progress.

P.S. YES make it louder! I recently sold my 1966 Cadillac Royale Rescuer" hightop ambulance... it had Cragar 500 Eliminator wheels and custom bent dual exhaust (with glasspacks installed backwards) it was loud as hell! I'm no stranger to these hightop ambulances, yours is awesome. Here's a couple shots of my former ambulance "Miamitown"

Interesting... in earlier years the Pontiacs did carry the Rescuer and Royale Rescuer names I noticed while thumbing through earlier years in the book. Production numbers for Poncho Combination coaches (excluding Consorts) is 139 in 1963, and 147 in 1964

Yes, she resides in Texas now. New owner wanted the ambulance with stock wheels & whitewalls, so the bling found a new home on my '67 DeVille...
