ok, yall. we scoped out the area yesterday and all is well. there is some construction going on at the lakefront, but you can still come sraight up West End Blvd and get on Lakeshore Drive and to the parking lot across from Landry's Seafood. it looks like the best place to go eat would be R&O's (for good inexpensive food and good parking layout). so here's some directions:
those of you coming from CCC bridge/downtown direction:
on I-10 as you are heading towards Metairie, before the I10/610 merge you would exit West End Blvd (exit 231B), head north for about a mile and a half. West End basically turns into Lakeshore Drive at Robert E Lee. so just keep going straight. you will see all the construction at the corner of Robert E Lee, but you can just drive through it and into the Lakefront area. the road will start to curve to the right and you will see Landry's Seafood on the left side of the road (but it's more like straight in front of you before the road turns right). park in the lot across from Landry's on the right side of the street. you can turn into the lot right before the road curves right, but head into the big area (after the cruve) and look for the hearses
those of you coming from Metairie/Baton Rouge direction:
head towards orleans parish on I10. when you hit the I10/610 split stay on 610 and the first exit will be West End (exit 1A). head north on West End for about a mile and a half. for those of you with GPS just put in the address 8000 Lakeshore Drive, NOLA, 70124 and that will take you straight to Landry's.
here's our unofficial (and subject to change) itinerary:
we will meet up for 10am at the lake. snap a few pics out there.
maybe hit City Park.
then head down Canal to Greenwood Cemetery, Cypress Grove Cemetery, the Mortuary, Lakelawn Cemetery.
then wrap up with lunch at R&O's. (menu here: http://www.neworleans.com/food/menus...estaurant.html)
we may not have time to do all that. i don't know. it just depends on how long it takes us to take pictures. so this is the general plan, but we will make changes if necessary once we are out there. we can do this again once the weather gets cooler if we can't fit it all in.
Tony has his hearse girls all lined up. i'm sure Jeff does too. it's been hot as hell lately, but i'm hoping for at least a breeze. we'll bring an ice chest with water.
1 more week! WOOT!! i can't wait!!!
